I have setup everything according to "How to setup and run my personal video player / movie player" in Wiki both on PC and on my DM 7020.

VLC is running on the PC with Web Interfece.

I can see the files located my PC on the DM7020 VLC Plugin, but when I select a file I get the message

Buffering Video Stream - Please wait

and there it sits, with the counter at the top on 0%.

Nothing more, even after waiting 10 minutes or more.

With the introduction of the PLi® Jade software in the summer of 2008, you are now able to make your DM box into a true DM media center client or what is also known as an extender.

Warning: do not use VLC 0.9.x for this Use VLC 0.86i

Yes, but the link on the Wiki page points to the latest version
and in this thread h**p://www.pli-images.org/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=56&thread_id=8110
DB800 states that it does work......

I traced the old version to here
h**p://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/0.8.6i/win32/
and will be trying it.

Perhaps someone can update the web page with a good link??

0.8.6a does work, and the way it behaves suggests there is a bug in the latest version.

As soon as I "Add and Interface" zonealarm warns me that VLC is trying to act a a server.
Now that did not happen with the 0.9.8 version.............

It is not a bug in VLC Posted Image
from VideoLAN Wiki:

The HTTP Interface is now (from ver. 0.9.0)only available on the local machine by default. If you want to make itavailable from other machines, you will have to edit the ".hosts"file.

It has been discused some time ago in this thread:http://www.pli-images.org/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=32&thread_id=7628&pid=85762
