I believe that the main problem depends on the reset of the box .....
is not performed correctly
the files are overwritten

I don't know what to do anymore! I follow the correct procedure, I install the new image, but after the boot it is already configured ....
Italian language, old settings sent through dreamboxedit..etc
I remember that for the first firmware, I had to do the configuration

There are two images to download. You only used "recovery". It will probably flash first or just clear the settings. I really have no idea. But this is not a full OpenPLi image, but just some Linux flash drive format or something similar. You must use the other large file / image. And this is just a full-fledged OpenPLi firmware.

The recovery image is basically the bootloader, which on this boxes also has a GUI from which you can select images to boot, or install multiboot images. It does not contain an enigma image.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

No, it's on the TV, using the remote.

It starts when you press and hold the power button on the remote when you power on the box.

The recovery image should only be flashed if flash is corrupted or there is a newer version.

That's not an original OpenPLi 8.1 image looking at the plugins that's available for download.

We only provide two oscam versions, oscam and oscam-emu and that's more than enough.

@sardic:

In step 2. you must select the "local image", where you select the UBS key on which you have pre-extracted the full OpenPLi 8.1 image - downloaded from the internet - https://openpli.org/download .

I dont know if you are owner SE edition of the set-top box (Zgemma H9 Combo SE), but... here is direct link, for download the current firmware, non-SE edition (Zgemma H9 Combo):

If you have 2 images installed and the rootfs of the second/third/… image is mounted automatically, then I have seen before that opkg also reads the config from the second image and therefore shows packages from the second image feed. This might be here the case.

Hello, Same problem here, this morning I did a fresh install on my Ultimo4k with stable release "openpli-8.1-release-vuultimo4k-20211128_usb.zip". Did not restore any settings, installed oscam from pli-feed, When I connect with telnet it ask for password for root, I have tryed without, my last I had before and so... nothing. I came from openvix 6.0.003, but did a fresh, but it doesn't work with the pwd I had on that image. So something is strange.. Maybee try older release?

For your information, Did fix it with this: Download setpasswd in system plugins Then use menu, go to settings\system\Change root password. :)

Can't be, OpenPLi comes out of the box without password. Did you use ssh instead of telnet by any chance?

And yes, "setpassword" is a good solution if you want to set a password without using the commandline.
