I would like to know if this kind of remote control can work fully with the vu+ ?

All the functions like the long press on the color key ?

Hi,

 

More than probably none of them. Every box manufacturer uses its own IR coding so the RCU must match the expected code.

 

If you want to go for a Universal RCU have a look at Logitech Harmony RCU they are easily configurable and they get the manufacturer RCU key code from the Internet when you perform the setup (or they can learn by a RCU to RCU code learning).

It's not an IR remote, it's on the 2.4Ghz network with an usb dongle.

 

I don't want to use an too expansive remote because, it fall down too often     

And because of my problems with infrared volume, I wanted to try a cheap remote control with dongle.

 

The question could then be: would a device running Linux work with a dongle for remote ?

Hi,

only if lirc is working on the box and the remote is supported by lirc. VU+ itself had a remote for the Ultimate4K with a keyboard but I do not know if other VUs support thsi special remote in their driver.

Precisely, it is to no longer use the infrared that seems to malfunction on my view + duo2.

so I want to use another remote control that works with a dongle on the 2.4ghz, but I don’t know if the vu+ will work with this kind of dongle?

The VU+ can actually work with loads of IR RCU’s. Enigma can handle quite a lot and many manufacturers use RC6 and RC5 codes..

Can’t I just connect the dongle into the usb port and that’s the only way it works?

I don't know what are the RC5 and the RC6 ?

Which means you need software to map whatever is coming out of that USB dongle to remote keycodes, and feed those to Enigma.

No the default provided RCU is infrared but if your STB support build in bluetooth then you can purchase the official Vu+ RCU which works in bluetooth mode.

I use it on my Duo 4K.

USB Dongle is recognized by the kernel without a problem even in the latest Developer versions.

I use two types of RF remote / keyboard - generally remote works well on Zgemma H9S and Mutant HD 60, but you have to fix the file keymap.xml , If you want to make the most of the functions of the remote.

I have an old remote control of this guy, but not all buttons work.

 

So if I understood correctly, just by taking over the file keymap.xml, I can regain all the functions I use.

 

I'm missing :

Menu

Exit

Red / Long red

Green / Long green

Yellow / long Yellow

Blue / long blue

 

Could you help me ?

You can find this file in - usr/share/enigma2/keymap.xml

You can access and edit file with WinScp editor for example.

You must include some rows in specific places. For example [<key id="KEY_COMPOSE" mapto="cancel" flags="mr"/>] -this key is mapped as [exit]or [cancel].[<key id="KEY_HOMEPAGE" mapto="menu" flags="mr"/>]- this key is mapped as [menu] and etc...

I attach my keymap file for Mutant HD60 and MX3 Air Mouse for example.For the Vu+ sure file will have other content. Be careful, only add rows to the right sections.

R,G,Y,B buttons  - They must be learned by the original remote (in user manual of MX3 Air Mouse is explained how ). This buttons and Power buttons is IR,  all others are WiFi 2.4 GHz.
