Hello, Just wondering if there is a way to back up an image already running and working and also to set up multiboot on a DM 7020.

I see Flashwizard 6.3 but it does not work with DM020.

Hope there is a solution.

Thanks,

I have multiboot setup on my DM 7020 using FlashWizard Pro 6.3... works like a charm.

You can't get it to work?

Nope, it says it does not support 7020 and the backing up of files deos not work either.

If you have some steps you did and care to share please do.

To be honest I can't remember if I did anything special to get it to work - it's been three or four years since I set it up.

But, I have a zip file with the version I use if you are interested in giving it a try?

I just found this quote on another forum - could this maybe be the cause of your problems?

WARNING:
- on 7020, you *must* have in flash a true OpenEmbedded image (no 7000 cvs-tuxbox ).
Make sure before installing FlashWizard on your 7020 to have an OE image in flash.

Read the attached document. You can backup multiboot images thru flaswizard, not the same for flash image.

Attached Files

DM7020s, 4GB IDE Flash Module. Echo 119 & 110. Flash: DS-DM-7020-E1-0.35; Multiboot: DSM Remastered, Gemini 4.60, Pli-Jade2. -------- Synology DS107+ NAS, 500GB.

Hallo!
I´ve wrote a wiki for backing up multiboot on a 7020 with a USB-stick mounted.
Here is a link to the wiki.
The problem is that you can´t backup an image from wich you run your system.
In my case I usually run my box from the USB. When I want a backup I start the box from the original flashimage.
Then it´s possible to run a backup of the USB-image with FlasWizard 6.3.

Good Luck!

It's a rar of a pdf file. I don't know why its extension was lost when uploading.

Was able to formatt the USB stick however when i go to load a a pli or another image i get an error say "553 could not create file"

Anyone know what could be the correction to the issue?

Got it to work. Had to disable the HDD and the CF option. Looks like there is a bug in the program code of FWP 6.3 and greater (FWP .4 B3)

Did you use the image for formatting the USB stick or some other method. I've found that if you use the base image to format the USB stick, it will work ok with FWP. I use the official image for my base image and by formatting the stick with that, I have no problems with FWP and multiboot.

Yes i use the image and this posted to be a problem when all the other option have check marks. (HDD and CF) Once they were unchecked it worked fine.

The multi boot also works fine.

Thanks to all who gave feed back
