AFAIK HDMI-CEC works or doesn‘t work. Where one box works ok another box from a different brand doesn‘t work at all.

The same goes for the TV brands. Where one brand works ok, another brand from the same A segment doesn‘t work.

As I was about to buy a new OLED TV I brought my Ultimo 4K just to test whether the combination worked. I definitely need that the TV shuts down when I put my box in stand-by.

Thanks for the answer, in the function off and on the TV it works, in the option to change channel with the tv command and it is possible to adjust the tv volume with the 4K pulse command and that does not work, this cannot be fixed in the image / drivers ?

I've never managed to get the volume keys to work with my Panasonic Viera, no matter which box is connected. All other CEC functionality works fine.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), SAB AlphaTriple HD (S2+T2), (Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Every manufacturer is free to decide whether or not to implement CEC, and what functions of CEC. And the CEC specs are so simple that incompatibilities can easily occur.

Like Frenske wrote, either your combination of devices work, or they don't.

You give the answer in your question:  Onkyo AV TX-333  is between the box and the TV.

The option to pass the volume control through HDMI-CEC is working if you have an amplifier between the receiver and the TV because the command sent are properly handled by the amplifier.

Very few TVs can understand those code and handle properly the volume control from the receiver.

Also you should not be fooled by the RCU, because some brand like VU+ offers a "small universal RCU" once you configure your TV code in the RCU you can turn the TV on/off from the VU+ RCU (without using HDMI-CEC) but the RCU also change the Volume+ / Volume- with the TV code and no longer the STB code (so once again nothing to do with the HDMI-CEC), so when adjusting the volume you think it goes from the VU+ to the TV but in fact it's not, the RCU send directly the TV RCU code for the audio volume.

If you test a direct connection between your TV and the SF8008 I am not convince that volume control will still work.

I've already tested it without Onkyo, that is, directly connected to the hdmi 2 port (cec) and it doesn't work anyway, with the octagon sf8008 everything works perfectly, with or without Onkyo, and that's what is bothering me a lot, the keys of volume just doesn't work, but the keys on the middle wheel that supposedly when we click to the right increases the channel, in the octagon it works here in Pulse 4K shows the skin

What do you mean with "shows the skin"? And which keys exactly? And do those keys behave the same on the box itself?

The keys on the Pulse remote do not match the ones on the TV remote, the buttons on the central wheel of the remote (central button (OK) plus the one on the left, right up and down) on the TV remote all do the same, show the same if you press the central button ( OK ) of the box command, that is, the EPG

If all the key are transferred to the TV then you can no longer control your STB ok button should not be the same as the one from your TV and opposite is true too.
So when enabling the control STB with the TV remote don't expect every key to be mapped.
I have the same with my Sony TV I can control the STB from the Sony RCU but only a few keys are mapped.

Any news about this subject? One of the problems could not be a bad Keymap.xml ?

I don' think that we can do anything about this.

I have tested my PULSe 4K on a few years old Sony Android TV by enabling use TV RCU to control STB in HDMI-CEC setup screen.

Result is:

- OK button on TV RCU is interpreted as Menu by the PULSe 4K

- Arrows keys around TV RCU are all interpreted as OK by the PULSe 4K

For the HDMI-CEC switch TV to correct entry it only works after 45 seconds in the PULSe 4K with this TV.

I also try to enable use TV RCU on the VU+ Duo 4K attached to the same TV and with it nothing is working.

So HDMI-CEC is not really a standard like you can expect to be.

But if developers explain how to debug to try to improve the mapping (if it is possible) I can perform some more testing and take some traces.

You can install the HDMI test plugin, which shows you the HDMI command being send and received.

I doubt the mapping is the problem, but the codes received...

So the box receives the same CEC command for all those keys. Problem on the sending side, not the receiving side.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), SAB AlphaTriple HD (S2+T2), (Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

That would suggest some mapping is done low level, in the drivers, which in turn suggests the manufacturer needs to fix it.
