The subject + the picture says it all.

I used to notice in the Dutch EPG many ‘double entries’ with a time gap of 10 about minutes.

From the moment I only have the Flemish basic EPG + others and I download the original Dutch EPG, this issue has vanished. The Flemish EPG still shows the double entries once in a while. What might be the cause of it?

If I had all the knowledge I had no questions at all.

Pretty normal, and doesn't happen not only with Rytec, but also with OTA EPG.

It happens when the provider reschedules a programme, and you receive this while the original entry is already present. Enigma doesn't see those are the same programme so you end up with both entries.

This can be addressed by clearing all EPG before you import, but that has side-effects (you also lose OTA loaded EPG, you might end up with holes in the EPG if there is no full overlap, etc).

It can happen even more freqently if you also have now/next EIT active, as that has preference over EPG data, and is quite requently adjusted last minute.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Doesn't EIT implement CRID?

We had VideoPlus+/ShowView in 1990. And now, 32 years later, we have this wonderful EIT, and it still doesn't work... Maybe the intern/temp/high school kid that submits the EPG spreadsheet to the EIT generator is at fault?

See https://www.tvwithou.../atsc_psip/eit/

There is something called event_id, and a method called eEPGCache::FixOverlapping() which only seems to use it as a key, not as a means to find shifted start/stop times.

Thanks for that. Quoting that page:

Each entry in the table contains a 14-bit event ID which, in conjunction with the 16-bit source ID for the virtual channel, uniquely identifies that event.

So it seems possible to use that for overlapping events. Not for Rytec of course.

Question remains if a shifted event then has the same event id, or a new one. And what EPGCache does with it.

One can also use EPGrefresh for EIT EPG.

In this plug-in there is an option to clear all EPG before obtaining the new EPG.

This will clear all those overlapping shows.

It is off course no solution at source, but will eliminate most offending overlaps.

You can call it a work around.

Both Rytec IMPORT and ATSC EPG have always used the start time as the eventId. Shifted start times will not remove the stale cached data as the detection for the eventId will be different for these two epg.

see: https://github.com/O...cd0d44b0c0L1889

Double entries was fixed for OpenTV, i guess this could be tried to fix for ATSC too, as that should also pull the eventId from the SI tables.

see: https://github.com/O...ldata.cpp#L1616

eEPGCache::getInstance()->submitEventData(sids, chids, it->second.startTime, it->second.lengthInSeconds, it->second.title.c_str(), "", m_ATSC_ETT_map[it->first].c_str(), 0, it->second.eventId, eEPGCache::ATSC_EIT);
