Lately I have the problem on my Windows PC that SubtitleEdit crashes when reading .ts files.

Importing Teletext subtitles still works, but playing the file into the movie window causes a crash.

It is happening with all.ts files I tried.  (And I tried many - all recordings from my HD2400 under OpenPLi)

Also these .ts files causes problems when to playback on the Windows PC.  Not all of them but a serious part of them.

VLC f.i.does not crash, but refuses to play them.  Again not all of them.

Windows mediaplayer in general will play them.

Also when I try to open these .ts files in SubtitleEdit on Linux (under mono), everything works as expected.

This leads me to the conlusion that something is amiss on my Windows PC.
But what?

I re-installed mpv and ffmpeg under SubtitleEdit.

No result.

The graphical card driver is the latest available.  Although my PC is rather old and still running Windows 8.1

Has anybody an idea what can go wrong?  (aside from buying a new PC, or installing Windows 11)

Besides this, I want to run Linux on a new PC, but I am not prepared yet to convert the existing PC to Linux, as I have to much stuff to convert then.

PS:

At the moment I use a workaround.  Run the .ts files through mkvtoolnix an make a mkv file from it.

These work without a problem.
