The AU9540 is PC/SC compatible, maybe this one too?
But these are generic ISO card readers, pretty useless on an STB?
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

I doubt you'll get it to work, even mainstream distro's don't have drivers for it, other than PC/SC.
And that is available in the feed:
root@hd66se:~# opkg list | grep pcsc libpcsclite1 - 1.9.0-r0.0 - PC/SC Lite smart card framework and applications pcsc-lite - 1.9.0-r0.0 - PC/SC Lite smart card framework and applications
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Cards or card readers never decrypt services. That's the job of the descrambler (inside the demux) or the CI module.

Some card are very sensitive to clocking, and the internal reader sometimes doesn't does the job properly so in this case you need to use an external card reader.

Oscam has pcsc support, which is currently not enabled in our build, but that is only because until now, nobody asked for it.

I build with PCSC because I own one. Keep in mind that most (all) PCSC cardreaders operate at 3.57 or 3.69 Mhz and can’t change the clock frequency! This means that some card types can’t be used in these readers. Nagra cards mostly work, but Irdeto2 don’t (require 6 Mhz)
