I don't think a lot of OpenPLi users use SAT-IP.
However, there are no changes made to code of a Release image, we only update data files, picons, etc, and occasionally a backported fix.
It is more probable that the combination of 8.3 + updates + SAT-IP is severely taxing the old Zero hardware.
If you suspect the updates are causing it, you can always flash the latest image instead of updating, if you use a USB stick, the flash image option in the menu, and make a backup before the flash, you should be back up in no time...
