2 of the last times I made online upgrade, the VU has changed IP. Why?
IP changes after online-updates.

Are you meaning your internal IP address?
Probably our receiver ethernet is set to DHCP. Change it into a fixed IP adress to solve your problem... Or.. at your xDSL/Router/DHCP-server make a reservation at the device-IP adress.

Hi.
Exactly... as far as I know, the MAC address is assigned in flash memory. The network card in the set top box (NIC) is apparently "software" - controlled by the chipset. It is probably not a separate hardware module in your set-top box. That is why we talk about the so-called of a shared network card that uses flash memory or even a chipset, your set-top box... and does not work completely independently, like a standard network card hardware module. Therefore, after disconnecting from the electricity or after flashing the set-top box, you can get a new and therefore random MAC address.
By default, the WiFi router maintains IP addresses for any device, based on the MAC address, but only for 1440 minutes (24 hours). If the device is disconnected from the network and remains disconnected for 24 hours, this IP address assigned by the router will be lost (it will be freed for further use). But that's not your problem. Your problem is probably the change of the MAC address after flashing the firmware. In that case, you have to set a fixed IP address after installing the new firmware in the set-top box.

VU+ uses BCM SoC's which have a PHY in the chipset with a fixed MAC.
There are however illegal IPTV plugins that can override the MAC because it is used for authentication.
But most likely the cause is a cheap router without persistent storage for DHCP leases, which means that if it restarts, it no longer knows which leases are still active. When the VU+ requests a renew, the router will deny it, and issue a new IP. The same with a reboot, the MAC is no longer known by the DHCP server, so it will issue a new IP.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Didn't you change the settings of your WIFI router, for example? The IP address is assigned by the WIFI router in your network. Then the problem will most likely be only in your WiFi router.
My assumption that the MAC address changed after flashing the firmware to the set-top box is also based on the fact that the new MAC address also represents a new device in the LAN network and therefore the WiFi router immediately assigns a different / new IP address for this "new" one. device on your network.

NOTHING changed!

So unfortunately you will have to ... change something . Set a fixed IP in the set-top box network configuration.
Try to check, if possible and if you have free time, whether it has changed, or whether the MAC address in the set-top box will change, after re-flashing your set-top box.
If the MAC address of the set-top box has not really changed, then it is sufficient if you assign the IP address determined by the administrator (you) for your set-top box in the configuration of your WIFI router, based on the MAC address of the set-top box. All done.
Maybe it's the router's fault. It's hard to judge. For example, the release of the IP address assigned automatically via the DHCP service is set, not for 1440 minutes, but for example only for 1-5 minutes.
I can't tell you more about it, because I'm not an OpenPLi developer.

If you want the box to always have the same IP, there are two options:
Use a fixed address on the box as mentioned above, or use a BOOTP address, an IP address bound to a MAC address in the DHCP server.
As I already wrote, I'm 99% sure the router is to blame, either because it forgot the outstanding leases when it restarted, or because it forgot the outstanding leases while running (there are several el-cheapo ISP routers with this problem, also older Fritzbox models had this issue).
It is not related to OpenPLi, all networking is 100% pure linux with the standard dhcp client.
It is normal for a DHCP server, when it receives a lease renew command, but it doesn't have the lease active, to send a deny back, after which the client responds by requesting a new IP address from the pool.
Which in most cases, in networks with multiple devices, is not the same as before (this behaviour is not set in the RFC's, the implementation of the DHCP server determines if you get the same IP back if it is free or not).
