I have a Pioneer Kuro plasma monitor in the living room (no TV and no smart functions), my office and development TV is non-smart muiltinorm TV, and in the bedroom I have blocked all outgoing traffic from my Samsung on my firewall, you don't want to know what it all shares...

 

People seems to not have evolved in centuries, they still fall for beads and mirrors, and give their entire life away...

 

So, I'd rather have an STB I have control over.

However for TV is almost not possible to change the look. What comes from manufacturer that's it.

 

The tv plugins are mostly html5 pages and can be change.

Indeed TV's are spy's I have also blocked trafic between TV en internet.

So whould have been the UI on the box, if people would have had the guts to implement the proposed redesign years ago...

 

It would also allowed to have a proper headless box for those using other devices for the UI.

The pager stuff was good designed and lean coding. The changes here just need some polishing. Eg an extra service info renderer should be avoided. Better adapt the current one end for example when we want to made permanent clock build in… then add this feature with a hotkey toggle or so to turn it on/off with a config or so… and remove the plugin.

And much more better stop work a rounds in enigma2. Adapt it to make a real redesign of the enigma2 code so we have a kind of headless enigma2 and remove the complete skinning out of it…

But this is a big project…

Yes! That's the main problem. There is nobody that wants to do this. So you have 2 options:

1. Reject everything and stay at current state with only minor fixes (that will make you stick to the current state and not evolve)

2. Accept workarounds if they dont break anything and at least move in some direction

About the clock i do had the idea of make it built in with a config. should it be enabled or not. But even now it can be simply removed from the skin and it will not show. So the plugin will be pointless anyway.

 

Regarding the extra service info its not so simple because i guess we going to discuss this for ages till we "clean it up".

 

I think there needs to be compromises from both sides. Currently is more like "if you not do it in our way then not do it at all"....

What how why do you need it in the skin? The other service info renderer?

why do you get weird text cut off in choice box? What change triggered it? Why can’t the standard look good?

when you embed permanent clock you also need to do it in all other skins… why not keep this as is?

I need enhanced ServiceName converter it in the places in infobar where i render the service name - provider - orbitalPos in a single line. Ofcource that can be implemented in the current ServiceName converter. 

If you see the PR there is not ServiceInfo renderer or something. There is other stuff but not serviceInfo. So i dont need anything else than this extension above.

What cutoff? Where? provide a screenshot please. I have not any cuttoffs.

Umm no. Only in the skins that you want to display the clock.

As i said my initial idea is this to be configurable.. to show or not.

But this is a big project…

I'am working in this direction.

It make no sence to develop pyhton stuff for enigma2.

The base of enigma2 is good nearly everything is written in C .

My samsung tv have a enigma2 player written in html and java in a plugin.

Now i am thinking to put the web pages on the stb so you can

start is from the browser from the TV.

Is there a html base on enigma2 ? otherwise i have to install a mini

html webserver on the stb.

Hello!

 

Here is new version of the skin v0.9.5.

 

With this version i have experimenting with lighter and cleaner python part.

 

This version is also kind of middleware to the next version which will contain even less modified python files. (even more if PLi decides to merge something from my suggestions)

 

So i need users to test and reply is everything works fine with that.

 

IMPORTANT!

 

Be prepared for issues with it. If you face so errors or impossibility to run enigma2 after restart just restore the python files from before version (0.9.4) and reboot.

 

However not matter if it runs fine or there are issues please report here so to know the state. Thanks!

Can you put a snapshot of the infobar so I can think about the service name etc….

maybe we should get a thing that you can format something in a string or so what you want to get….

For this problem can you replace the file attached by putting it in \usr\lib\enigma2\python\Components\Converter?

This is crash in XStreamity plugin .... It will be difficult to fix that since i dont use that plugin.
