Would still mean a commit, and a revert if it doesn't work ;).

If I remember correctly WanWizard has one, I've asked him, but no response as of yet.

I'll have a look...

I don't see any difference, my box still hangs on reboot, with the OE-A kernel patch.

But it eventually starts through, after 10 minutes or so, so it could be different issues...

WanWizard

Does your box with the homemade image freeze, and "un-freeze" after 10 minutes?

Best regards

When I reboot, either from the menu or from the commandline, enigma closes, the epg.dat is written, HMDI is switched off, and then the box freezes with the display still on.

And after 8-10 minutes (haven't timed it), it does reboot.

I've got this problem since day 1, and I know others in the team experience it too.

But... I only have this when I use a wireless network connection, and have mounted external shares. All my boxes are connected the same way, but only the SF8008 has this issue.

Hence my remark that their may be multiple issues.

Could it be that this is needed?

And after 8-10 minutes (haven't timed it), it does reboot.

did you (you all) try "halt", the box should go asleep (deep standby)

Halt (Deep standby) seems to be working as it should  :D

you may try "shutdown" as well, there are much more options then just doing "halt"

root@h7:/tmp# shutdown
Usage: shutdown [-akrhPHfFnc] [-t sec] time [warning message]
                  -a: use /etc/shutdown.allow
-k: don't really shutdown, only warn.
                  -r: reboot after shutdown.
                  -h: halt after shutdown.
-P: halt action is to turn off power.
-H: halt action is to just halt.
-f: do a 'fast' reboot (skip fsck).
                  -F: Force fsck on reboot.
-n: do not go through "init" but go down real fast.
                  -c: cancel a running shutdown.
-t secs: delay between warning and kill signal.
** the "time" argument is mandatory! (try "now") **

@Grippen:

Hi again.

Although the problem is already solved by flashing the new firmware... but I came across something similar... which I mentioned a long time ago in the discussion here:

https://forums.openp...x/#entry1250230

At that time, it was about the freezing of the "/etc/init.d/ntpdate.sh" script under Run-Level-3.

For that reason, the "enigma2.sh" script also did not work (remained frozen).

Didn't this same old problem of mine arise in your case ?

/// EDIT :

Sorry. You already tried the "init 4" command above to stop Enigma2. And it worked correctly. So the problem probably won't be what it was in my case.
