just another question from me as I did not find any answer to my problem. 

 

I am using since few years a VU+ Uno 4K Sat Box with the latest OpenPLi stable image. Actually preferring to watch channels via Sat but I have also some (legal) IPTV channels in my favorite lists. For these I use also the Plugin "serviceapp". Some HD and even UHD IPTV channels work perfect on this box but there is one channel which maybe has a different type of audio. So the UHD channel is there but no sound. This one channel has an E-AC3 Dolby Digital Plus sound. Is it possible to making the sound work? I tried different Players, for example with the GStreamer it works but the picture is lagging quite a lot then. Is there an extra plugin to install which can encrypt this sound type?

Difficult.

On the one hand, you should always display the stream as an analysis here.
So record a part and post the codec data here.

On the other hand, we will probably no longer be able to repair it in 8.3.
It's possible that the current version of gst in develop does it better.
ffmpeg (exteplayer3) a missing eac3 could bring the solution.
I will activate it in develop.
It's just difficult to maintain all the different combinations.

So would you recommend to wait for a new stable image or just switch to the nightly builds?

First we really need the codec info from the stream.
No one can know how the stream in question is packaged.
Irrespective of this, the ffmpeg (exteplayer3) controlled via the service app is built in such a way that we keep it as slim as possible.
Therefore not all possible functions were activated.
But you write a limited functionality on the part of gst, then it should also be possible on the part of ffmpeg.
