Is there anywhere I can find a xml file which reflects recent changes to BBC regional channels. I am using an old zgemma star s receiver.

The xml in our image is updated twice a week. What OpenPLi version is running on that box?

But this is updated in set-top boxes by itself. That is, if you use set-top box updates.

 

Alternatively, if you use E-Channelizer (paid version of the application) to manage channels in your set-top box, there is also an option to automatically update satellites.xml file.

 

In a set-top box, this file is usually located here: /etc/tuxbox/satellites.xml

You should have AutoBouquetsMaker available to you. It reads the SI tables without consulting the satellites.xml file. If you don't like the bouquets it makes for you, set all the create bouquet options to "no". In about 30 seconds you will have all the channels on 28.2.I always enable the include non-indexed channels.

I am trying to get BBC South West HD which needs :-

 

DVB-S2 8PSK SES transponder no: 46 TSID: 2046 Frequency: 10788 MHz Polarisation: Vertical FEC: 3/4 Symbol rate: 23 MBaud TS rate: 50.083Mbit/s 

None of the suggested sites sees to generate this transponder. I guess I have to edit the satellite.xml file myself.

Dude, you probably still don't understand it exactly.

 

The "satellites.xml" file contains a database of satellites currently in space. But what is more important, it also contains a database of available transponders ("frequencies" one can say) for each specific satellite.

 

In your case it is the position of the satellite 28.2E (28.5E) - https://www.lyngsat....South-West.html

 

So, download either the whole (full) "satellites.xml" with all satellites and their transponders... or download only the specifically generated ones, i.e. from what you receive the DVB-S signal on your set-top box... for example only for 28.2E satellite.

 

As for the specific BBC station, you probably just need to retune your channels so that they are found on the transponder and are included in the "/etc/enigma2/lamedb" file which has a relationship (connection) with this "/etc/tuxbox/satellites. xml".

 

It goes something like this:

You can manually download the latest "satellites.xml" file from the OpenPLi - github. Then replace the file in the set-top box. Then restart the set-top box and start a new scan of DVB-S stations. If this new BBC is not found, then it has to be dealt with.

 

The problem may also be in the setting of the antena or in the poor range of the angle between 28.2E and 28.5E. In the OpenPLi file "satellites.xml" from github, they are all linked together - i.e. Both 28.2E (Astra 2E/2F/2G) and 28.5E (Astra 2E) are together under one as 28.2E:

The problem you have usually arises if you download userbouquet files from a third party, to which your "satellites.xml" file and "lamedb" do not match. That's why you need a complete list of stations - including the mentioned two files "lamedb" and "satellites.xml", which match the userbouquets files.

Let us give you what you want first:

 

1. The OpenPLI complete version can be gotten from here:

Right click, save as

 

It has this entry

2. You can download the xml file that OE-A images uses from following site run by Huevos. It should be identical to the PLI one as they garb from Lyngsat, barring a couple of minor tweaks.

3. You can manually enter details to scan a transponder. Use manual scan instead of automatic scan.

 

 

As for dealing with the actual problem:

Ever since those HD changes, there have been several posts by people on various forums complaining about not receiving BBC One SW HD. This is from people in the UK.  It ends up being an alignment issue. When you perform a manual scan, single satellite, 28.2, you should get over 850 channels. If you do not, there is a reception issue. Alignment or being out footprint for people in Mainland Europe. You can run ABM, it will add the channel. If you cannot receive it, you will get a tune failed message.

You can also just do a user-defined transponder scan, and fill in the paramaters, doesn't need an xml...

 

But as Neo already mentioned, if you have a supported image (and 8.3 runs fine on a zgemma Star), you will always have an updated xml, and this discussion is moot.

I had exactly the same problem. I managed to get my bbc channel back after 2 days!!! of grief. Thank you for posting this it did help
