Just bought a V+ Duo4K SE to replace the aging VU+ Ultimo.

Have loaded OPENPLI 8.2 on both (had problems loading 8.3)

Have CI (not plus) CAM and a real Canal Digital card.

The card will not work on Duo4K SE, but no problem on Ultimo.

Tried it on other receivers, Dreambox, Russian Grand Triple. No problems there.

Why not on Duo4K SE? I get no messages...

Does it not see the CAM at all? Or does it not decode?

You know it only works on the first transponder tuned?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

It sees the CAM, identifies it as CONAX, but doesn't decode. And no error messages. No messages at all.

What do you mean by first transponder tuned?

According to my Nordic friend the Conax CI+ Cam you must contact your provider. They will turn off the ‘+’ part of the CI+ BUT pair the card with the CI+ module…

Alternatively you may enter the CI+ certificates in /etc/ciplus so the VU+ will accept the CI+ Cam.

I have a very old (2004) CAM, no CI+ only CI.

I don´t think getting a CI+ CAM would help.

The difference between the DUO4K and the Ultimo seems to be the FBC tuners.

Is there a way to turn off the FBC on the tuners?

If the CAM is that old it will probably lack the modern security features needed. Contact Allente and ask for a new CI + card.

He indicates the cam works on other receivers and not on the 4k se, so why request for new CI+ card?
Seems to me the problem is the box.

The Duo4K has always been very picky with CI modules, we'll need some debug logging to know what is going on.

Use image OpenBh for test module.

I tried VU+ own software. It half decoded CONAX, pictures were partly scrambled, partly clear. Weird.

I have then installed OpenBH. I turned on logging, and looked at the logs, but what should I look for?

If not, then I can't help.

Recalling a bit:

I bought a VU+ Duo4kSE ty replace my VU+ Ultimo.

I have been running two legal cards with CI Cams (not+) on various hardware for over ten years without problems.

Swedish Boxer (T2), has given no problems, works fine with CI Cam (not+) on VU+ Duo4kSE.

Swedish Canal Digital (Conax) does not work with either CI or CI+. Tried both.

One thing is sure: it is not the hardware.

After trying various software, OpenPLI, OpenVix, OpenBh, OpenDroid, PurE2, I finally got something working on OpenATV.

But not the latest release (7.3), instead after a tip somewhere, an older release: 6.2 from 2020.

I now get the S transponder channels to work. On S2 channels I get distorted sound and picture, but enough to recognize the channels.

Some questions:

1. Why S channels and not S2 Channels?

2. What differences could there be between release 6.2 and 7.3, is there a similar change in OpenPLI?

3. Is there a "graveyard" somewhere for old OpenPLI releases, I would like to try old versions?

6.2 - secret closed libraries from VU+ included

7.3  - removed it

OpenPLI - these libraries never existed

Maybe(6.2)

in telnet:

echo "extra_high" > /proc/stb/tsmux/ci0_tsclk
echo "extra_high" > /proc/stb/tsmux/ci1_tsclk

1. Why S channels and not S2 Channels?

It is most likely bitrate related. Some modules have to be told to step up a gear (the tsclk value). Some (older) others just can't handle them. This becomes more of a problem as you see higher and higher bitrates on new transponders.

3. Is there a "graveyard" somewhere for old OpenPLI releases, I would like to try old versions?

There is, but it doesn't go very far back, due to the amount of disk space it takes.

In general we keep at least 1 image of every release online, but for some reason I'm missing 6.x and 7.x at the moment, so something is going wrong somewhere.

7.x image is back online, we don't have any 6.x images anymore, they have been removed in the past to save space.

edit:

6.x images can't be build anymore without a big updating effort to make its OE build again.

The 6.X images had indeed a secret binary... but they need to be removed due to license issues.... So that is also not really helpfull...

Maybe this user needs to google for the CI+ licenses and find a way to put it on the box.

Have tried old OpenBH(4.4), and VTi  (not old). They don't work at all.

The bitrate might explain why the S2 channels don't work on openATV 6.x. Is there a way to fix this, obviously it is not a hardware problem? Driver?

I now got a CI+ cam. It is reconized by the receiver, and I get a message that it is not paired, wait 2 hours. Even if I wait 24h, nothing happens.

According to Canal Digital, only approved receivers can be used. What happens in pairing, is something written to the card?

Saw something on the net about a ciplushelper. What is it, where, how is it used.

 Thanx for all help!
