I had to turn the power off and on tonight. After that, I have problems with the network. Because of several diagnosis, my brain is not functioning more, so I'm in desperat need of help to get the network back. To start, the address of the VU (with latest OpenPli) was 10.0.0.7. At first after the restart I had no contact with internet. When I try now for software update, I get: 'The status of the current image could not be checked because https://openpli.org can not be reached. Do you want to upgrade your receiver?' I press yes, and I'm told there are 2 updates. I have done this 3 times now, and every time I get this 2 updates. It looks like it download and install them, but I'm not sure as it tells the same all the time.

In Network setup, I now have current settings: IP 10.0.0.7. Netmask N/A Gateway N/A Network LAN connection Primary DNS 148.122.164.253. Secondary 148.122.16.253. Configure nameserver has the same numbers as the DNS. Network test LAN Connection green on Lan Connection. Local network red disconnected. DHCP red disabled IP address red unconfirmed Nameserver red unconfirmed.

So how do I get this to work?

could you post screen shot of your network config from you VU. Also you mentioned "lastest openpli" but your signature says 7.3. What version are you running ?

Also, how does your VU connects to your modem/router, Wifi or LAN cable ? what is the LAN IP address of your modem/router ?

Therefore no reason that network settings are screwed-up after a restart, except due to a major software bug/error and/or a HW failure (hence the question on how is the VU connected to modem/router).

Finally, when you say "press red button to start the network wizard", if I look at the link you provided, it seems you need to hit the OK button to start the wizard, noit the red button !

If none of what the colleagues mentioned above helped, then definitely try the network test, through the GUI, in the OpenPLi MENU.

Also check the cable if it is a cable connection between the set-top box and your WiFi router.

Finally, you can verify the settings in the WiFi router if the connection with the router is fine (you can verify the connection, for example, by testing with the PING command within your LAN network).

i Have 8.3. I use cable. It was an error as I had earlier. One specific channel makes problems. Then I have to use the power-button on the rear end to turn it iff and on again. Then my network was not working.Pressing RED or OK-button does not give me Network Wizzard.

I'm using cabled network.

issues with channels is not linked with network issues related to WAN/LAN (unless you use iptv).

Pls post screen shot as asked (=> MENU then 4 then 1 then 5 then 4 and pick-up LAN and then parameters), and anwser questions about IP in previous message, otherwise it becomes very difficult to try to help you.

example of screen shot:

I guess that you are using a fixed IP address defined manually in your STB.

I guess that your problem is linked with the fixed DNS that you have defined.

So define again your DNS setting from the GUI perform a netword test.

When you retrieve access to Internet/DNS resolution then install:

opkg update

opkg install openresolv

Reboot the box, define the DNS again (perhaps optional) and you should be able to use again your defined DNS servers.

You can also use the Google DNS: 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8

Edit; just read you other answer and without defining a netmask and a default gateway you cannot access the internet, this is normal.

Don't you try to install OpenMultiboot on your VU+ and install several image on it?  With OpenMultiboot this can lead to such strange problems.
