Hello,

 

i have strange problem with my positioner. It does not move every time I try to change the satellite. It shows that it is moving but it is not. When I go to menu->setup->tuners & scanning->positioner setup, then select Movement and then press 'move east' or 'move west' it works and then when I exit from that menu and try to change the satellite it works

 

I am not sure if this is hardware problem related to my positioner or to my receiver or it is a software bug.

 

receiver: gigablue uhd quad 4k

os: openpli 8.3

 

Just give me an idea where i need to look for the problem.

It starts with what kind of motor you are using and whether the tunerconfiguration is properly set.

If you have a DISEqc USALS motor set it up like this and if the chosen coordinates North and East are set properly AND the motor is properly mounted, then the satellites are found automatically.

I am attaching screenshots of the motor.

I am using this configuration 6+ years with no problems with Xtrend 7x00. The thing is that when I changed my receiver with gigablue and upgraded to version 8.x it started doing this.

That is why I am asking if this can be hardware problem because I am using this for a long time or it can be related to Gigablue OpenPLi port/software.

I have changed both cables from receiver to positioner/motor and from positioner/motor to LNB. The result is the same.

It means that I can see the rotating satellite symbol in the upper left corner with seconds counted until it gets to the new position but the satellite dish is not moving.

When this work maybe for test need disable USALS -->add position manual/ "Reset limits"

it is symbol only and nothing to do with moving ...

 

- go to zero position in Positioner menu, then try it again

- try use manual steps in Positioner menu and monitor, if is signal on signal bar changed, when you are moving dish manually with steps.

- may be, test it with Xtrend 7x00 again, if motor is still ok, too.

Unfortunately it does not work with the old Xtrend 7500 either. Maybe the motor is the problem.

Btw when I did 'Goto 0' it completely stopped  moving at one time on a position which does not have any signal. Now I cannot move it at all.

I didn't find such button but I think now it is clear that the problem is the motor so I ordered a new one.

Pity that you didn’t put some effort in finding the reset button. Depending the brand the reset button is usually hidden under a rubber cap where they have put a led.

Just lift the side of one of caps and you’ll see what I ment. But, as you already purchased a new one this advice has no further use.
