Image 9.0 on Formuler F1 with external HDD.  One S2 tuner + one C/T2 tuner are installed.

Both tuners and timeshift have been working seamlessly for several years.

Problem now:

- If HDD is connected, C/T2 tuner disappears from tuner list in menu. T channels are out.

- If HDD is disconnected, receiver rebooted, C/T2 tuner reappears in tuner list and deactivated.

Problem was present on 8.3. I did a fresh install of 9.0 without any backup.

If you move back to 8.3 is the problem gone?

external HDD is a 3.5 disk connected by USB.

The problem was there with 8.3. I moved to 9.0 hoping it would go.

Have you tried extermally powering that disk? Or using an externally powered USB hub between box and disk?

HDD disk is in an enclosure. Power is supplied from an external power supply. The enclosure has a USB port for read/write.

This has operated perfectly for many years.

Disk has been checked for inconsistencies.

Then I am out of idea's, I can't think of any other relation than a power issue, tuners are by far the most power consuming devices in a box, and the first to act up when there are issues with the power supply.

But with an external power supply the disk shouldn't be a drain on the box.

Thanks for your replies narrowing down this problem to a power issue.

I have now replaced the 3.5 HDD with a 2.5 HDD connected to the powered USB on the receiver. T2 tuner is back and timeshift works.

I suppose the 3.5 HDD enclosure is faulty and draining too much power, or the 3.5 HDD standalone power supply is faulty.

Thanks for the feedback.

My assumption is that the issue is with the external power supply, so it is drawing power from the USB port. And not with the disk or the enclosure itself.

You could test that with a powered USB hub between the box and the disk.

The HDD power supply is one of those 12v/5v dual units with a combined plug.

Not worth buying a new one for over 20€.

I'll use the 2.5 HDD instead although it's smallish for my use.

Great thanks to WanWizard for the help.
