Youtube plugin from feed

I have used 720p and it has worked perfectly fine.
If I activate 1080p (DASH) the transfer/download speed is very low, videos are very laggy.

Download speed is about max. 180 KByte/s, mostly much lower. With 720p it works perfectly and very fast. I have a 250/40 Mbit/s internet connection.

Is this a problem with DASH on my box?
Is there anything I could do?

If this issue occurred out of the blue then I would perform a flash and reinstall only YouTube and test.

If the issue has vanished then you still could restore your backup and check again.

I never used 1080p before, 720p only. Therefore I am not able to say whether 1080p ever worked before with high download speed.

 

Background: Some YouTube tutorials use screen captures or screenshots and sometimes the smaller fonts are very blurry with 720p but very sharp with 1080p.

 

Anyway, I read from your answer that my problem should not occur.

 

Are there specific libs/versions or something I could check before performing a clean flash and follow your suggestions.

Not that I know of.

If you write about the plugin on Youtube, make sure you use the latest version of the plugin from the feed.

Either update the image or uninstall and reinstall the Youtube plugin.

If it doesn't help, give a specific link to the video that doesn't work.

Even if all of them don't work, mention at least one, so I can check.

Youtube throttle certain formats and plugin should bypass this, but it's possible that something doesn't work anymore.

I flashed openpli 8.3 release, clean, performed only the setup assistant.

I installed your YoutTube plugin from the feed and tested 1280x720, perfectly fine, also with very high download speed.

I changed the setting to 1920x1080 and the download speed is extremely low.

 

I did not use my own API-Key, never did.

 

Here a video which does not work, playback laggy and download slow:

 

 

1080p60 videos, playback are very laggy.

1080p23/24/30, playback mostly ok, but still very slow donwload speed.

I tested it with openpli 9.0 release (clean, plugin from feed), identical behaviour.

After a short research, I can confirm that this video is laggy even for me at resolutions higher than 720.

I see that in 1080 resolution formats 303 (DASH video vp9 codec) and 299 (DASH video h264 codec) are available.

And both have the same problems.

Vido links do not contain nsig, so youtube should not throttle them.

 

If I select another video that has format 137 (DASH video h264 codec) it plays without problems in 1080 resolution.

 

I will try to find time to solve this problem if possible.
