I have no clue what "DMM-TV website" is, what you think you may find there, and why. And why you think we should know.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Looks like some forum site. Why do you think we have anything to say about what they do? Why don't ask them?

???
You asked us about decisions some other website has made, do you really expect us to know anything about that?

If you want a good answer, ask the correct question.
No, no VU+ box is useless. The older ones don't do HVEC and are less usable these days (depending on your provider), and the VU+ Duo has a history of power supplies failing after time. But other than that, I see no issues.
Note that VU+ no longer produces STB's, so everything you can find is either surplus stock of second hand, and you can forget manufacturing support (but that is true for most brands these days).

Whether or not an STB support HVEC depends on the chipset used.
Given the fact the brand-spanking-new Zgemma H17 uses a Broadcom BCM7251S, which is a chip from 2015, there is no date that will tell you if HVEC is supported or not.

You'll need a Humax forum for that, this one is about OpenPLi firmware.
