The Enhanced Movie Center (EMC) is a feature rich plugin but is difficult to maintain. It would be nice and much easier to maintain to extend the already very nice openPLi movie list.

 

Here are some features I use every day:

 

Folder info:

An info about how many movies are in the folder (incl. subfoldera) plus how much space they occupy. There are options: number only, number/space, space only, none. Example: (10 / 52 GB) for 10 movies occupying 52 GB of space. This information could substitute the "Verzeichnis" and "Papierkorb". 

 

Record title and short info in one line:

A even more compact view but allows more entries on one page. 

 

Alphabetical sort includes the short description:

Very useful for folders containing for example many recordings of a docu series. 

 

Multiple selection of recordings:

Select multiple entries for move/delete/copy/watch/shuffle watch etc. 

 

Random/shuffled playback option for all recordings in a folder or selection. 

 

Keys to jump for example +5 or -5 list entries. 

 

Option to disable the mini TV but use the freed space to show more details of the selected recording.

 

Wasted space for folders in the list:

Show folders in the list as a single line even when recordings have two lines. 

 

Playlist management would be nice.

Add/delete movies to/from a playlist.

Play the playlist "top down" or in random order. 

 

Otions to reduce font size and reduce width of left column (smaller mini TV and details column) to gain more space for the list of recordings. I altered the standard EMC skin for that. Especially if you have name and short description in one line. 

 

These are a few features that come to mind first at the moment.

Progress indicator as percentage instead of symbols:

A colored percentage of the progress of not/partially/fully watched recordings.

For example up to 5% white, 5% to 80% orange, 80% to 100% green. 

Range limits can be altered in EMC settings.

EMC colorizes also the list entry of the recording according to the percentage range.

You can already change it to a progress bar instead of that icon that shows it in quarters.
And having two lines or so was always possible.

I have used openPLi for much more than a decade but always with CoolTV Guide and EMC. I would like to use the standard openPLi extensions instead but there are a few features missing.

 

The mighty @WanWizard has repeatedly asked which features are missing in the openPLi movie list compared to EMC The users often answered that EMC just looks better or something like that. Of course that's not very useful. 

 

So, I wrote down some features I use extensively every day and what I miss desperately in the openPLi movie list. 

 

The playlist management would be a nice to have. I do not use this very often but sometimes. 

 

I understand that these features are not easy to implement. I would do it myself but my Enigma2 development knowledge is very limited.

 

It would be awesome to replace EMC with the openPLi movie list.

Thanks for the info. Of course I tried this already but the percentage needs less space and is more informative in some situations. I assume it is not so easy to implement as it seems.

I know there are differences. But I think the issue is that at the dmm time it was mandatory and also bad written with stealing functions as it was not possible at the time of dmm to really made and offer changes. This makes emc and cool tv too complicates in addition it has/had also only use on dmm hardware licences. Maybe when you try to get used the the current and then list what you really need helps to implement only stuff you really miss…. The basics find a recording and play it is there and also go though folders. Maybe the number of files in a tree and the place it takes on the harddisk is not there.

I can only take the time and collect what I really need and use every day, that's what @WanWizard wanted to know.

 

If you and the contributors think that browsing folders and selecting recordings for playback is enough, I can not do much about it.

So, I will have to wait until EMC is working on openPLi 9 again (which looks already very good right now, @rantanplan is doing a great job).

Would have been nice to make openPLi even greater.
