Hello, i have some troubles on DUO4K and on a DUO4K SE used by a friend.

Sometimes, after a reboot, there is a black screen and the solution is to disconnect the power. Switch on and off, is not enought.

It is not all the time.

It happends on openpli 8.3 and openpli 9 (last releases)

Never seen it before. Does it boot at all (and can you telnet into it when it does), or does it hang at the bootloader?

Using multiboot, and if so, which one?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

A friend had twice this problem. At his home, it was impossible to reboot (black screen).

He send to me and no problem, normal boot (it was on openpli 8.3 last release on Duo 4k SE).

Now, i saw that on my DUO 4K with openpli 9.0.

After switch on off, nothing and good by disconnecting the power.

No multiboot, in two cases, black screen on duo 4k display after the VU+ picture.

Black screen on TV.

I hope that it was a bad luck. I will tell you if it happened again.

You didn't answer the question if the box still was reachable via ping or telnet.

If the box is reachable via telnet, enigma hangs but the operating system is stil running, if not, something else causes the issue.

I have the same problem again (no reboot) on Vu+ Duo4K.

To have a correct boot, i disconnect the HDMI output before booting and when the box is started i connect the HDMI output.

I don't known why?

Not all the times, but sometimes the box is stopping boot, At the begining of the boot,he VU+ picture is visible and after nothing, black screen.

On Openpli 9.0, last release. I see that on two differents Vu+ boxes with openpli 9.0.

With a VU+ you can have a relative long time a black screen once the bootloader disappears and once you have our bootlogo. This is the way how VU+ loads their drivers. Maybe you should be simply a bit more patience....

Was it after you upgrade your box?  Sometimes VU+ tooks time to boot.

Do you have an USB stick connected to it (Tuner or Data stick)? If so please try to disconnect it when rebooting.

Do you have an internal HDD in the box?  If so go into the HDD menu and perform a filesystem check.

Question to pro: is it possible that the OS is performing a filesystem check automatically at boot when it detects that the HDD (or USB) needs it?

USB devices present indeed increases the boot time, as the bootloader has to check for the presence of updates on every device connected.

Question to pro: is it possible that the OS is performing a filesystem check automatically at boot when it detects that the HDD (or USB) needs it?

You can if the device is mounted via fstab, but on the box, devices are mounted by udev, and the udev mounter has no provision for this.

You could try

tune2fs -c 1 /dev/sdX

to force a check of that filesystem on every mount. But not sure if busybox mount looks at it.

When the boot is normal, it is quick.

But, when is bad it doesn't start.

The first time, it was a Duo4K of a friend. I explain him that it was impossible.

Now, i saw that on mine.

I have no explanation.

It would require a serial console connection to know what is going on, it is the only way to watch the boot process.

You can try with another power supply and see if the problem remains.

I had troubles with one of my VU+ and the solution was to replace the power supply.
