Afaik it needs a different driver, but no idea which one.
Can you do an "lsusb" and post the output here? We don't own one, so we can't check and test ourselfs.

That looks like a Realtek 8822CU.
For that, you can install
opkg install kernel-module-8821cu
and reboot. That should fix it.
edit:
Not sure if this is available in a release image yet, as I recently added it. You might want to test this with a develop image in a different slot.
If it works, I can see if I can backport them to 9.0-release.

Ok. So I did already backport it.
According to this source, the 8821cu driver should support it: https://github.com/m...usb_intf.c#L266 so I need to find time to find out if we can switch to this source.
The problem with out-of-tree drivers is usually the lack of broad kernel version support, we need drivers that work on kernel 3.8 but also on 5.15, which is often a challenge.

That commit is not ethernet driver related, it just enabled bluetooth, which is part of the same chipset.
OE-A builds from https://github.com/atvcaptain/RTL8822C and the irritating habit ot them is that they don't build directly from the source, or from a forked source repo, but copy everything to themselfs, which looses the reference to the original source. It also means all commit history is going, which makes seaching for kernel version support is an absolute nightmare.
The problem with USB drivers is that the USB ID of the device ( in this case "0bda:c82c" ) must be defined as supported in the driver, which means every time a new device comes to market, the driver for that chipset needs to be updated. The version we build from is simply too old, and doesn't have this id in its supported list.

I’ll flash the sf8008 4k supreme later this afternoon.

You're late to the party .
Frenske has already tested the driver I build, and it works fine. So I'm now busy adding it to the build, and backporting it to 9.0-release.

A new build for 9.0-release is currently running.
If you update, you need to install the driver yourself, if you flash, the driver will be part of the image and the WLAN will be directed directly.

This one I tested lately on 8.3 did not work, PLi sees it, the drivers are in 8.3 present
Realtek RTL8192EU ID 0BDA:818B
High power USB WiFi adapter, 300 Mbps (WNP-UA300P-02) (gembird.com)
no go, if the stick works you see it on led flashing, if it doesn´t the led remains dark
what always worked "out of the box" are Ralink and Atheros chipsets, I´m still using them (up to 150MB/s)

No clue what you are on about.
The original SF8008 has an 8192eu chipset, which works fine, with 8.3, 9.0 and develop. I have one here, which is used daily.
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:818b
The SF8008 Supreme has an 8122cu chipset, which is a 1200Mbps 2.4/5Ghz chipset, completely different.
