Bonjour / Hello

VU+ Solo2 receiver image OpenPLi » Develop builds V9
Unable to use usb wifi dongle.
THE Wlan appears fine in the list of networks, but when I click, ACTIVE, interface, it says ok, but always comes back Off. Unable to use it
If I use an OpenBH 5.3 for VU+ image, my wifi dongle works.
Do you have a solution so I can use my wifi dongle on Open pli

We need to know exactly what chipset.

And have you installed the driver for it? Unlike OE-A based images, we don't install everything but the kitchen sink by default.

I experienced the same with this dongle, sometiimes it gets recognized, you see it in adapters, after a few seconds it stops working, if I restart the box it works for a while

https://forums.openp...dpost&p=1601618

I think the PLi WLAN recognition should be revised, just borrow it from ViX, it is closer to PLi than ATV I think

No idea what you're on about.

PLi doesn't do "WLAN recognition", you load a kernel driver, and that either works, or it doesn't. Enigma (from any image) just calls the commandline "iw" tools.

Drivers can be huge, especially if they need to support lots of chipset variations.

What dongle?

Hi.

You mean the "Dreambox WLAN Stick 300" - USB WiFi (2.4 GHz) dongle ?!

This one: https://www.olmi.tv/...ion=description

If so... then... it should be Realtek RTL8192CU chipset.

Because there is also "Dreambox WLAN Stick 600" - USB WiFi Dual-Band (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz) dongle.

https://satelity.ell...mbps_39594.html
And this chipset is different... unfortunately I didn't find out which one so that you can then install it in OpenPLi.

But to be sure, it would be advisable to remove + reconnect the USB WiFi dongle in your set-top box. Then... using the terminal connection (PuTTY - Telnet or SSH protocol), write the following commands:

lsusb

...and also:

dmesg | tail -n 15

...and then... you can insert the report from these commands here - into the discussion.

The cheapest one I found that works on Xtrend ET7100 V2 and openpli is this one, 8188:

https://www.aliexpre...6635708837.html

kernel-module-rtl8188fu and firmware-rtl8188fu need to be installed on the box.

MT7601 from the same link didn't work even after installing the correct drivers.

There was some sort of kernel panic and I had to order another one, 8188 which works fine.
