Enigma doesn't do anything with "the picture", it is received and send directly to the hardware for processing.
With a broadcom SoC two things come into play: drivers, and SoC licencing. VU+ is known to be very skimpy when it comes to licencing, and has only licensed what is absolutely needed for DVB reception. So anything deviating from the standard won't play. This however smells like it is something non-standard the drivers can't handle.
As drivers are different for every box: install OpenPLi on the Uno 4K and you'll see it will work there too.

What generally happens is that when the manufacturer gets a contract for a SoC, they also receive a version of the SDK for that SoC.
Most simply implement the drivers as supplied with the SDK, at the moment they design the hardware, and then never ever do anything anymore. With some luck, you get some bug fixes along the way. VU+ is no exception.
The Vu+ Duo 4K and Vu+ Uno 4K SE are from different moments in time, which is also indicated by the difference in kernel version (they usually just take whatever version the SDK is for).

And you wrote OpenATV didn't. Which is weird because both BH and ATV are OE-A images, which use exactly the same BSP (which includes the drivers).
