the freeze you describe will happen when;

1. You have DHCP enabled under the network options
2. As said above you are trying to flash over any max var image

so your idea of using dreamUP and a null modem cable is a great idea.

firstly i would like to thank everyone for your answers. it finally works with null modem cable.. i also have another question if can anyone help me. i have a second dreambox dm500s which works with pli jade2. i tried to flash it with rs232 and null modem but it encouraged an error so i couldn't flash it with dreamup and null modem. i flashed it with flashwizard through ethernet cable. if something goes wrong with pli-image by mistake and i can't flash it through network i think there is no other way to flash it..now the dreambox work properly but if something goes wrong that means there is no way to flash it so i must buy a new one.. can i do something else ?
thanks!
