Hello

 

I have a Qviart Lunix 4K receiver with latest OpenPLi 9 version.

 

Every time it reboots automatically after updating packages it freezes on Qviart logo boot screen (yes I already wait a lot of time) and I have to manually turn the receiver off/on to boot normally.

 

Do you know how to fix that?

Yes, checked now and same happens. What could be the reason?

No idea, it just does "reboot", the standard linux warm boot command.

 

You can try from the commandline to verify:

init 4
sleep 10
reboot

vs

init 4
sleep 10
shutdown -r now

although both commands do the same, there are small differences to how they restart the system.

Qviart very often get troubles with reboot. I need to use to power switch to reboot it properly.

It is not linked with the upgrade, it is box bug.

Exactly at which stage does this booting get stuck ? How does it look ?

 

Is it possible to connect to a stuck set-top box via a terminal (telnet / ssh) ? This would mean that Linux is already running, so the error is likely to be on the drivers side (an error between Linux and the set-top box). If so... maybe the fault could also be diagnosed via terminal connection. Alternatively, you can also test, what @WanWizard wrote above.

 

Unfortunately, Qviart Lunix does not always supply new / updated drivers for Linux. If I remember correctly, no one wants to support Qviart Lunix in Enigma2 teams due to old drivers and old linux-kernel.

All vendors use antique kernels.

 

They pick one when the hardware is in pre-production (more often than not the one dictated by the SDK), and after that don't do anything anymore. Aftersales costs money, and none of these vendors seems to be in the business of spending money on customer service.

 

The box hangt on a warm boot, the kernel doesn't boot, so there is no running linux. It could indeed be diagnosed by a terminal connection, so the boot can be followed. I haven't found how to force Linux to do a cold (re)boot.

I have exactly the same problem with my Qviart Lunix 4k.

 

I'm trying to get the serial output of the CPU to determine the issue.

I have managed to capture the the boot log when it freezes, however it does not freeze totally you just have to wait about 9 minutes and it wil finalize it's boot sequence.

 

I also see that you are on OpenPLi 9.0 as I am still on 8.3 and with identical issue, so it's not related to the version 9.0.

 

I wonder if all Qviart Lunix 4k owners with OpenPli suffer from the same issue.

Indeed I never wait that long when QViart doesn't reboot, I use the power switch.

I stop using the Qviart also due to this bug, when performing online update it often get stuck and that upset me.
