Hi friends
Just for fun I resume my very old M7000s.
I had in mind to play with but unfortunately I forget the password.
I used telnet connection trying to fix new password but nothing.
Typed: login  root;  password  passwd
but no access to the possibility to change into new one.
Some ideas from your part?

I remember from very past there were a file to be deleted by Norton Commander. But do not remember correct dir.
thanks

What is running on that box?

I understand that you get a login prompt (and you enter "root") and a password prompt (you entered "passwd")?

Why do you think that is the password? In the old days, the default password was "dreambox", have you tried that?

Does the box have a working feed? You may be able to install a plugin to reset the password?

Or find an old Enigma image for it, and just flash the box, assuming there is nothing on there of any value?

The default password at that time was dreambox….. very helpful to scan the internet in that time to find dreamboxes and add yourself into shares….

Always a reflash with a fresh image should resolve it.

In any linux, passwords are stored in /etc/password and/or /etc/shadow.
