Hello, I've been using OpenPLi with VU+ Ultimo for years. Now I use a VU+ Duo SE 4K with OpenPLi 9.

Now, when opening "Media Player", the system freezes, I can just switch the power off and restart.

Then, if I try to reopen  "Media Player", it freezes again.

I tried to uninstall "Media Player", restart and reinstall. No change.

1) Do you have an idea what I should do to to let "Media Player" work?

2) Would you have another suggestion in order to listen to web radio streams?

Thank you in advance. John

If you can reproduce it:

  • restart enigma in debug mode in the menu
  • reproduce the problem
  • switch off the box and restart
  • get the enigma debuglog out of /home/root, zip it, and post it here so we can have a look.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Hello WanWizard and thank you very much for your kind answer.

I did as advised and you got the zip file in attachment. Can you see something?

My alternative is to perform a fresh new install.

Thanks and best regards.

Also (but not related) find some time to clean up your mounts, there are quite a few mounts being tried which fail (incorrect IP's?).

If you are playing streams, it could very well be that the server providing the stream does allow the HTTP connect, but doesn't actually stream any data. It could take a while before such connections fall in a timeout, and in the meantime you have a spinner and the box is unresponsive.

Hello and once again, big thanks for supporting!

I did:

1)remove CI mdule

2)disable auto timeshift

but no change.

So I'll make a fresh install.

Can't thank you enough. Tell me how I can help back!

John

Hello WanWizard

I made a fresh reinstall.

MediaPlayer worked first, then not anymore.

Please find the new "debug file". Can you see something different compared to the previous file?

Thanks and regards.

John

There is nothing different in this log. timeshift is still on,

I see the box tuning into DTV VU+ 1. (service 1:0:1:4:64:20FA:FFFF0000:0:0:0: :), and a timshift starting. I see you starting the Media Player from the menu, I see the timeshift stopping, and then a spinner, which is the last log entry.

No information about what you do in Media Player, no indication what mediaplayer internally is doing.

What exactly are you doing? What are you paying (or trying to play)? And why not use the standard player (the PVR button on the VU+ remote)?

edit:

If it hangs when you start it, does it try to read files from another box as default location? Because I can also see you still haven't fixed your failing mounts to your other boxes.

Hello, thanks. A short answer and I'll come back tomorrow: With MediaPlayer, I play a list of various radio streams. Because ma VU+ is connected to my audio sound.

Afaik the MediaPlayer doesn't play streams, it only plays files.

Where are those files stored? On a disk or USB device connected to the box itself? Or on another box in your network?

Just to confirm, we're talking about this Media Player, the one that is installed in OpenPLi by default?

Hello WanWizard and Dimitrij,

Thanks for your answers.

After reinitializing and reflashing multiple times, I could identify exactly when (but not why) MediaPlayer will not launch anymore:

1) fresh install

2) MediaPlayer works fine

3) I change the content of a file like /etc/enigma2/userbouquet.favourites.tv (to get my usual channels order)

4) MediaPlayer makes the system freeze

I reproduced the malfunction several times.

Would you have an idea why?

Hello again. Thanks Dimitrij.

I just found playlist.e2pls, deleted it, restarted. No change. Mediaplayer not opening (the wheel turns and the system freezes).

Any idea which other files should be deleted?

Thanks in advance.

Since when does MediaPlayer do anything with bouquet files? It is a media file player?

I really wish I could know. I never had this problem with VU+ Ultimo 4K until now.

The fact is that MediaPlayer can't be launched anymore without freezing the system (I use it to play radio streams).

I still don't understand how that works. It only allows me to select files. I use it all the time to play mp3's.

I see no option in MediaPlayer to play a stream or to select something from a bouquet (let alone why would you use a player when the stream is in a bouquet and you can just zap to it?).

this .pls

internet-radio-streams.pls · GitHub

and enigma2 .e2pls or just .pls are not the same thing

VideoPlayerSimple kann play .m3u(8), .tv, and .pls (well my home version, I need to upload the new version)

Enigma2 .pls should be renamed to e2pls to be played

So the reason why MediaPlayer is blocking and freezing everything (but the wheel) is a mis(t)ery for me.  It looks like I'll have to do without MediaPlayer until I know what's causing the problem. Of course I would be grateful if anyone could figure out a way to let it work in my case. I'll try it on another VU+ Duo 4K with the hope it could be related to the hardware. I'll tell you about it here later.

Bypass:

Could you recommend another application for Enigma 2 that allows you to listen to audio streams?

Thanks in advance.
