As I said before, when the MediaPlayer starts it will enumerate the files and playlists.

 

If there is a stream in a playlist that doesn't respond, I can imagine that the player hangs until it responds or falls into a HTTP timeout?

Could you recommend another application for Enigma 2 that allows you to listen to audio streams?

Streams can be played using Gstreamer the default player, so place them in a bouquet and select them, just like you select a TV channel.

Under the bonnet the Media Player does the same, it just calls the Gstreamer playbin.

 

There seems to be more wrong with the Media Player, I can't get it to automatically play the next item in the playlist, it just stops. And selecting another one doesn't start it again, I have to fiddle quite a bit before I can get the next to play (after which the issue starts all over).

 

So this does need to be looked at.

MediaPlayer should give up enigma2 .pls and instead of use .pls for internet streams, e2 .pls or .e2pls looks like this

probably there comes the freeze

I'll try various solutions. The strange thing is that I haven't changed my lists compared with VU+ Ultimo. There must be something different with VU+ Duo 4K.

Hello, I choosed this solution (to place radio streams in a bouquet). It helps a lot.

 

Now, for the future, I would have two expectations:

1) to know why MediaPlayer opening freezes the system

2) get another application capable of displaying images (many radio streams offer an image of the title broadcast)

OpenPli 9.0 develop mediaplayer at plugin start gives me also an endless display spinner.
In 9.0 RC no problem.

As you know, I flashed and restored my box multiple times. The MediaPlayer freezes even with no content at all (completely empty - no lists).

The plugin starts normal again and working.
Was it caused by the starting map default setting in mediaplayer?
Could be that this also works for John74.

 If i remember i think Merlin Music Player plugin and Kodi plugin were having options to use cover-art. 

You have to keep in mind that these images are dumped on the usb disk.

Make a script to clear them when exiting kodi or MMP.

I can't reproduce this. It works ok on a Gbquad4k with OpenPli 9 Develop.

 

I tested it on a uClan Ustym 4 KPro, with my own develop build.

 

I can't remember having this problem before (this is a new test box, first used a HD66 and later a Qviart Dual as test box), so perhaps it is box dependent.

 

If I run Enigma in debug mode, I don't even see the player attempt to start the next MP3 when the first is finished. And also, the long standing bug that skips the first 10-15 seconds of an MP3 is also still in there somewhere.
