Hi Guys

 

I've recently purchased a Vu+Duo 4K SE to replace my old Xtrend ET8500 & to work along side my Vu+Duo 2.  All 3 have the latest version of Openpli 9.0 installed.  Both the Xtrend & Duo 2 are networked & i'm able to access content from both Hard Disks on either box. 

 

I'm having issues connecting my new Vu+Duo 4K SE.  When scanning (Networkbrowser) It picks up both my Xtrend & Duo 2, but upon activation it fails.  The strange thing is both the Xtrend & Duo2 see the Duo 4K SE & connects to it, but it won't play any none 4K content from its hard disk, the player just sits there.. 

 

All 3 are Mount Type CIFs Share,  Mount Option vers=3,sec=ntlmssp,rw    Apart from the Local IP address & Local Mountpoint name being unique to each box, everything else is the same.

 

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Did you enter a username and password?

 

Only SMBv1 allows anonymous connections, and that version has been disabled (like it has in Windows) due to a high security risk.

I didn't set a Username or Password to start with, then I tried with guest as both Username & Password.

Since anonymous access is supported only on SMBv1 and that is disabled now you can not login as "guest". You must have real user setup. So if you have user "guest" and that user have access to that share then it will work.

You can not use fake user to act as anonymous imho....

Correct. "guest" is anonymous access, and that no longer works.

 

In most cases no addtional users are created, so "root" must be used as user, and it must have a password (which it doesn't have by default).

Hi Guys

 

Just a quick update, by changing the Username & Password to admin, admin it now allows me to play content from my Duo 4K SE via my Duo 2 & I assume my Xtrend, can't test the Xtrend as I've disconnected it.  My Duo 4K can see the Hard Disk in the Duo 2, but still won't connect.  Think I'll delete the mount completely & try again.

I have no idea what you're doing, a user "admin" does not exist on the box, unless you've made it.

 

Like already said before, you can only connect by using a valid username and password. The standard username on every box is "root", you need to set the password yourself (on the Duo 2), either on the commandline, or using the password plugin (which you need to install).

All working now on both Duo 4K SE & Duo 2 using admin for Username & admin for Password.  Thanks for the info.

I scanned my Network using Networkbrowser, selected the receiver & hard Disk to connect to, when asking to enter a Username & Password, I used admin for both.  Otherwise, it will select guest which no longer works.  Now I have full access to both my Hard Disks from either of my receivers.

That can only work if you have created that user (and given it the correct rights), or if you have SMBv1 enabled on the targets and you have an anonymous connection.
