I wonder why this great feature is not available in Pli images . Transpnder time is not usefull due to time differrences and when system time is used you cannot adjust it correctly as the date is only up 1973 which might be the birthday of Dream Multimedia owner looooooooool I don not know .

About which box are we talking? It's only available on 500+, 600 and 7020 for now.

then ntpd should run, and keep the correct time for you.
In e1 you can disable transponder time, so the ntp time will not be messed with.

What if I never switch my DM500 off? What's the best way to set up periodic time updates, e.g. once a day?

You need cron for that. If you search for cron or crontab on this forum you will see some examples here.

It seems something is wrong with crond in the image pli-Jade-dm500-maxvar-20090627-6494.img: it ignores any settings both immediately after changing them with crontab and after reboot. In the other image pli-Jade-dm500-20090627-6494.img crond works well and I was able to set up a regular time update over the internet with it.

Crond is there, and it starts and can be seen in the processes list. It just does not work as it should. Well, at least in the regular image it works quite well in the same circumstances. Actually, after having lots of trouble with recording using ngrab, I think I'll try Jade2 instead of Jade3.
