Dont bother...Hbbtv is generally broken. Since that are provided by manufacturer and they dont update it its out of date and mostly not working.

Vu+DUO4KSE, DM920UHD, Vu+Uno4KSE, SF8008Mini, 2xPulse4K, Vu+Solo2, Dreambox DM500HD, Triax 78 (7E,9E,13E,19.2E,23.5E) & 2xTriax 78 (39E)

I see. So there is no hope to fix it.

On the other hand I am using a Dreambox One as well and running Dream OS it seems to be working quite well on DVB-T2 services here in Germany.

When you fix it for country a you break it for country b. In the Netherlands they did stop hbbtv. And there is also a big license issue. Eg last time I noted eg openatv uses licenses from hardware x also on hardware y to get it done on multiple boxes. There also exists no real open source application for this.

Please don't let me be misunderstood. I am open to any kind of platform and OS and do not favour Dreambox or E² in general.

In fact the Dreambox One was the first of all I have bought after 10 years of using open software E² receivers since I was curious to see what is possible at all and for HbbTV I can see this receiver performs quite well whereas none of my Vu+ Solo², Octagon SF4008 and SF8008 were/are doing so.

Oh I was not aware it is that critical.

So summing it up, do just newer TVs compatible to HbbTV 2.x work as they should ?

P.S.: Maybe browser addons like RedOrbit HbbTV Emulator are more versatile ?

After having installed both plugins and assigning the red button to HbbTV, when switching to a station that is receiving HbbTV data and pressing the red button, for a second it is being shown which buttons could be pressed but after that you cannot see neither the contents nor get out of the HbbTV mode. This makes a restart necessary.

Don't install both, only openhbbtvbrowser, it works on SF8008 - uninstall the other one.

It's a bit slow to start, and goes always by two steps instead of one with arrows on RC, but it works.

Also, red button is assigned by default to HbbTV and menu button (or power button) gets out of HbbTV mode.

I have installed now only openhbbtvbrowser on the SF8008 running OpenPLi 9.0 and indeed red button shows the HbbTV content but on ZDF blue button is not reacting, so this must be a 2.0.x specific issue.

Maybe it's inappropriate to write this here, but HbbTV on SF8008 runs much better (with normal, single step navigating) and faster on OpenATV.

Can't remember about ZDF issue, you could try and see if it's the same there.

I don't know, you should ask this to them.

I just shared my experience.

Besides, I don't think anyone is asking for a license from anybody about an almost abandoned technology. ;)

Ok, I have checked HbbTV on the latest OpenATV on the SF8008 and I could not even start it with none of both plugins.

HbbTV at least in Germany is alive although I am not using it at all. Instead I do prefer to download content, watch it and delete it again because it runs smoother bypassing the buffering.

Also on 5W at least the RAI seems to be using HbbTV as well for streaming in higher resolution. Have to test this on my Dreambox One because this is the only device that runs HbbTV quick and well besides the TV which cannot receive Multistream. I really wonder if the CPU makes the difference for quick navigating.

Sounds like DMM did resolve it... but all is closed source with them.... So nothing that could help us. Nothing really related to CPU speed.

Here in the Netherlands HbbTV is not supported anymore and while testing the content seems to be geo-blocked... this makes it impossible to 'debug' for us.
