Need help, can't seem to get any UK ch...

's foto messenmack 26 apr 2024

Hi, I'm trying to use an old Xtrend 9500 tuner so I can access all the UK channels I once had some years ago.

I seem to remember that I needed to scan the Astra sats, so have configured to scan both the 19, 2E, and the 28,2 E/F/g but this isn't finding me any BBC or ITV channels.

I'm at a loss as what to try next, and as an old guy of 70, dicking about with this for hours has me pulling what little hair I still have, out!!

Funnily enough, I recently tried a freeview box, and a VU+ solo, both of which found the UK channels!

Thanks in advance.

That's not old, that's in your prime! :)

If you tried the Freeview box and the VU+ Solo on the same cable, we can rule out an issue with the cable, switches (if any), dish or LNB.

Since you tried a Freeview box, and that worked, and I know Freeview doesn't support DiSeqC or multiple LNB's, you have a dish with a single LNB (like a SKY dish for example).

That means your tuner configuration is wrong, as you wrote you've tried to scan multiple satellites. A single SKY LNB needs to be configured like so:

After which you should be able to scan it.

It was actually a different cable, different room.

I took the Xtrend downstairs, and now all is as it should be.

Thanks for your help WW, I had already told myself it couldn't be the cable, go figure.

And my wife thanks you for saving my remaining hair.

Have a great weekend.
