Hello, I flashed a nice openpli 9.0 on my Vu+Solo4k, the problem: I wanted to test several skins, and suddenly the last skin installed (which I don't like) .... impossible to put the skin back from before. When I launch an other skin, no response during two seconds .... and then crashes with a green screen. And now the Vu+ crashes for several things (see a video on a usb stick...)  How do I get out of this skin and put another one back on? Thank you in advance.

To get back you need to login to your box via the terminal with putty or get on your box with ftp or smb or so... (just type in the browser \\ip.from.your.box)... find the file /etc/enigma2/settings and remove the line that defines the skin.

If you installed the skin from our download feed:

  • don't forget to also remove the skin from the plugins (red button), as it will remain marked as installed.
  • please let us know what the name of the skin was that caused the problem
  • if possible also retrieve the file with the crash log from the box, and post it here (attach it via the "more reply options" button) so we can handle it

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I thought that (like I always do) you have to remove that specific screen from /usr/share/enigma2 and reboot the box? After the reboot you see the emergency skin and you can select a skin that will work.

To get back you need to login to your box via the terminal with putty or get on your box with ftp or smb or so... (just type in the browser \\ip.from.your.box)... find the file /etc/enigma2/settings and remove the line that defines the skin.

That would achieve the same, but is more risky if you don't know what you're doing, and less clean as the ipk is still installed after that, as far as the system is concerned.

It would be better to remove it from the GUI, as that removes everything.

Thank's to all :-)

What is better ? ...

Remove the skin from /usr/share/enigma2/[skin name] from my box and restart
-or-
Delete the line in /etc/enigma2/settings that indicates which skin should be used.

-or both-

??

... where is the crash log exactly ? ..

If you delete the skin's folder and restart the box afterwards, Enigma will return with the default rescue skin, from which a different skin can be selected.

Don't forget to remove the skin that didn't work via the 'remove plugins' option.

Hello,

Remove the skin from /usr/share/enigma2/[skin name] from my box and restart
-or-
Delete the line in /etc/enigma2/settings that indicates which skin should be used.

-or both-

I've done both... And it worked perfectly. Thank you for your help. The name of the skin that crashes openPli 9.0 is "dreamTv-HD"

crash_log attached to this post

Thank you again

Where did you get this skin from? It looks like it is simply not compatible.

Under openpli 9.0, in the plugins ... It is (as far as I remember) the first in the list of skins to install

There are a lot of skins in the feed that are very old and no longer compatible with latest versions of OpenPLi. I think somebody have to clean that up and remove non maintained/not compatible skins from the feed.

enigma2-plugin-skins-dreamtv-hd is part of the old Schwerkraft skins ( https://github.com/o...x/enigma2-skins ), I doubt there is any of them that still works, some of them are 16 years old...
