Vu+ Openpli-9 +iptv

Image OP-9 [9-6-24]
Gstreamer 1.20.5
When I select to watch an iptv channel, my box shows on the minitv screen the name of my last channel for about 12 sec then it is like 'switching' to the iptv channel that I want to watch and just like in less than 1" sec (I can see the buffering message on top of the tv screen) comes the picture. Switching to another iptv channel, same story - 10 sec to get the picture! It's definitely NOT an internet issue, moreover I remember that 'pause' in zapping iptv was smaller before [on earlier ver of OP9] (less than 5" )
Is it the Gstreamer or the dvb driver that causes this annoying pause when switching from sat->iptv
And is there anything, except rolling to older openpli release, that I could try to fix this one?!

This is nothing new and will always cause problems.
Some people think things have gotten better with the gst, but then others follow with other problems.
Then just try the service app and use exteplayer3 (ffmpeg).
Without a proper log file, no one can help anyway.
Regarding gst in version 9, no one will probably be able to help one person without creating a bug for the other.
gst and hls are definitely not the only problem, but for a satellite box it works fine.

The service app has no influence on the channel list.
However, when it comes to assignments (4097/5001/5003), there are often problems with the channel names in the list.
You will have to decide whether the stream itself is important to you or the appearance of the name.
But maybe your stream doesn't work with exteplayer3.
In my opinion it would be worth a try.

But it is very awkward cause my old dm8000 with openpli-6 was zapping iptv back and forth without a tiny second of delay! And here [Vu+] we have an arm processor and... just no comments((
But again it used to be better!

In terms of software there is no difference between a DM8000 and a VU Uno 4K SE.
The only factor in "zap times" when it comes to IPTV streams is how quickly the stream starts, and how quickly the DVB hardware (or the software player) can make sense of it. For MPEG streams, that means for example when it finds an I-Frame.
If you have a second box. you can test this by using the partnerbox plugin, and generate a streambouquet with streams to that other box.
That way you can test the response of DVB compliant streams without external influences. Note that you could have that internally as well, for example wifi, so you need to test with a wired connection between both boxes.
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.
Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Ok and how does this work?! I just enable the plugin and leave the parameters as they are or what?

If the service app is installed, it appears as a plugin in the list.
You can then select the version you want via the plugin.
If you don't change anything, the original version of gst is still active.
Change is possible to alternative gst player version, or the exteplayer3.
A reboot should follow after changes, otherwise the changes will not take effect.
You also have a few options to try buffering and see if it helps?

Ok, let it be, but it's a fact that pli6 on dm8000 was sensing iptv streams super fast. Pli7 on dm8000 was noticeably slower (due to luck of processing power..? new ver of gstreamer)
OpenPli-8 on vu uno 4k se - was it faster than latest -9(??) Cause as I said the February build (of pli9) or early March was faster than what I use now in my box.
