It seems to crash on an image in a slot that doesn't have an /etc/issue file. It is accessed to get the name of the installed image.

Every image should have this file, it is a standard linux file.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Hi,

and how can I check whether the file is present or not (new image installed on slot 4) ?

With some difficultly and using the commandline ;).

login with ssh or telnet, and type:

mkdir /media/flash
mount /dev/mmcblk0p16 /media/flash
cd /media/flash/linuxrootfs4

and you're in the file system root of the image in slot 4.

from there you can check if the file etc/issue exists, and what is in it. If it doesn't exist, you can create it. It should contain something like

openpli kirkstone \n \l

what image was it, that you flashed?

Mayby it fails because it expects only two words there? What if you remove the "for" so it just says "WARDER image \n '\l" ?

I'll try to find some time between F1 sessions to do some testing on my box. Bear with me...

edit: it must be something else, if I change the issue file of an installed image here to match yours, it displays just fine:

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Found it.

The issue file should contain:

image-name version \n \l

with an empty line, so 2 lines in total. You get the error if those empty line isn't there.

So the quickest fix is to add those two blank lines, and I'll see if I can address this issue in the code.

I've pushed a fix to develop. Once tested I'll backport it to 9.0-release. Fix will be available in 9.0-release after this Sundays build run.

Thanks for reporting.

I meant in terms of files, not functionally ;).

But never mind, bug has been found and fixed.
