Canal+ Polska recently changed FEC from 3/4 to 5/6 on certain transponders (for example HotBird tp 11, 11411H or tp 13, 11449H).
After that scanning fails to find any channels on these transponders.

This applies to full satellite scan, predefined transponder as well as user defined transponder (to be shure all parameters follow mentioned changes).

Receiver (VU+Uno if that matters) succesfully locks on these transponders.

System is updated to the newest stable release.

TIA for suggestions

1) wait for satellites.xml update, or
2) update satellites.xml yourself.

1) Does satellites.xml matter if I set transponder parameters (new FEC) manually?

2) What should I change in satellites.xml myself?

We generate a new satellites.xml every day.

And the latest gets included in every update on a weekly basis, 9.0-release on Sunday, 8.3-release on Thursday.

You can download the latest here: https://raw.githubus.../satellites.xml  and copy it to /etc/tuxbox.

The changes you refer too where made 3 weeks ago, so have been in the satellites.xml for weeks now and in both release images for 2 weeks.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

For FEC-3/4, a level of at least 7.9 dB was sufficient for LOCK, for FEC-5/6 you need a level of at least 9.4 dB. It may be necessary to adjust the LNB in the dish to a better level.

This is an old installation, but the 80cm dish gives quite stable signal, reaching >15dB on certain transponders when the weather is fine. On problematic transponders the level is around 13.5dB SNR with 0 BER and the tuner locks without any problems. Note that the tuner succesfully scans some other transponders with 5/6 FEC (today due to heavy rain SNR dropped to 11.5dB and still those "good" transponders scanned correctly).

I've tested both current versions of OpenPLi 9.0 and 8.3 without success.

For checking I've installed channel list from repository and the tuner failed reporting problem with PAT. To diagnose it further I've run w_scan which confirms this with messages like this:

tune to: S  f = 11488 kHz H SR = 27500  5/6 0,35  QPSK  (318:64511:1500) (time: 13:22.702)
Info: no data from PAT after 2 seconds
Info: no data from PAT after 2 seconds
Info: no data from SDT(actual) after 3 seconds
Info: no data from NIT(actual )after 11 seconds

It seems like a compatibility issue with specific settings on those "bad" transponders.

SOLVED!

Tests with another receiver confirmed it is not a dish/LNB problem. After juggling with various images I've  decided to downgrade the FPGA.

I've installed FPGA 4.2, 4.4 and finally 4.5 which repaired the scanning. I've been lucky to keep this last firmware on my computer as I could not find it anywhere on the web.

Thanks to all who responded for suggestions.
