Pike_Bishop, it seems that the eit file cannot be opened in some cases that I can't identify because all my tests on stream files and even stream files "converted" to ts by the littlesat module did not work until now. It displayed an empty window of the edEIT app that it quickly closed. And today, it works :o  but if it also opens the meta file for a ts file, it does not open it for a stream file.

Well, there is progress  :P  but I don't know why. Maybe it's temporary or random  .

WW, don't get mad, it's just that the operation has changed between 8.3 and 9.0 regarding the display of videos. With 8.3, even if there is no eit file, it displays something, see the first screenshot below whereas with the same files, it does not display a title with 9.0, see the second screenshot.

I'm not mad, I just can't reproduce it on the boxes I have. I have to say, they all run either develop or scarthgap, as "I eat our own dogfood" ;)

I have just made a dummy "AAAAAAAAAAAAA.stream" file on the commandline, it definitely doesn't have an eit or meta file, and it displays fine, with and without extension.

( first with hiding extensions, second without )

It is the same in the default OpenPLi skin, so maybe it's your skin that is the problem? I'm now flashing a 9.0-release image to double check.

My skin is Pli-FullHD but how do you create your stream file? Mine is created in Xtreamity.

I just created a file. As in

touch AAAAAAAAAAAAA.stream

for display in the list, its content is not relevant.

Again, you have this problem not because of the extension, but because you have an EIT file, and the EIT file is empty / not correct. Delete or move that file, and you'll see the filename return in the list.

If you download in Xtreamity (a VOD using the download manager), an EIT file never created.

I thought I had indicated that files created with Xtreamity did not have an eit file. I must have forgotten to copy that part from the translator :( .

Otherwise, inspired by your idea of deleting the eit file, I moved the meta file and then the file name is displayed. And since it works in 8.3 with the meta file, it shows that the code between 8.3 and 9.0 is no longer the same ;)  .

In 8.3 the program did not look for the title in the meta file but in 9.0 it will look for it and since it is empty, it does not display anything. So the program should look for the title in the meta file. It should display the title if it exists but it display display the name of the file if the title is empty :) .

You get a ".stream" file if Enigma runs a recording from a HTTP stream, doesn't matter if Xtreamity injects such a timer, or if you create a timer from a bouquet entry containing a stream URL. Enigma will always create a ".meta" file, and will create a ".eit" file if EPG data is available.

As a test, I have these files:

root@nas03:/volume2/OpenPLi# ls -l 20240804_0655_-_SKY_PREMIERE_HD_-_PARALLEL.stream*
-rw------- 1 root root 2361542104 Aug 7 14:58 20240804_0655_-_SKY_PREMIERE_HD_-_PARALLEL.stream
-rw------- 1 root root 77 Aug 7 14:58 20240804_0655_-_SKY_PREMIERE_HD_-_PARALLEL.stream.meta

so with ".meta", without, ".eit".

In the .meta file, no title, and no description.

root@nas03:/volume2/OpenPLi# cat 20240804_0655_-_SKY_PREMIERE_HD_-_PARALLEL.stream.meta
4097:0:19:1785:7EE:2:11A0000:0:0:0::Sky Premiere HD

1722750900

0
0

and if I check Enigma, I see

Attached File  1_0_19_17C0_C82_3_EB0000_0_0_0_20240807150508.jpg   105.03KB   0 downloads

So, what is different in your case?

p.s. If I create an ".eit" file, or copy an existing one, it doesn't change anything to the name in the list, only to the programme info view. So the ".eit" file and its contents are not relevant in this discussion.

WW, I reloaded version 9.0 that had been installed with the customizations that the installation retrieved by itself. I removed the skin customization with the plugin that allows you to enable or disable the skin customization, I did a whole bunch of little tests, I've been struggling for several hours but nothing works, I still don't have the name of the file that is displayed  :(  .

My version 9.0 is from 2024-07-27.

All I have to do now is redo a "virgin" installation that does not take into account my settings.

Please zip the .meta file that gives you problems, and attach the zip here, so I can test with your file.

I should want to send you the meta file and the stream file and it said me : "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file.

Then I saw your message and I tried to put them in a zip file but I have the same message. I tried with only the meta file but it's the same problem  .

You need to zip the meta file only and attach the .zip , forum only allow some extension so you need to attach a file with a valid/supported extension.

So, I installed the raw 9.0 by refusing that it uses the previous settings and the result is the same. If there is an empty meta file, it does not display the title. If there is no meta file, it displays the file name. In addition, with this raw version, it displays the file name with the tree, something like /media/hdd/movie/20240807 1416 - Météo.stream.

With the custom 9.0, there is no tree.

Thanks for the info Pr2. By default, 7-zip creates a 7z file and it refuses to upload it.

I put in the archive the meta file and a "shortened" stream file so that it is very small.

I don't know if this could be a driver issue. I think it's more a difference in the 9.0 version I downloaded.

The application should display the title if it exists in the meta file and it displays the file name if it's empty or if there is no meta file. The application I have doesn't do this.

I already see the problem when I open the zip. No need to go further.

The recording is from "Météo", but the filenames are garbled, which suggests the name isn't in UTF-8 encoding. Any WIndows or CIFS machine in the recording chain somewhere perhaps?

OpenPLi 8.3 and older run on Python 2, which doesn't know encoded strings, and would display garbage. but OpenPLi 9.0 and newer run on Python 3, which does. To avoid the box crashing, invalid strings are ignored, which is why you don't see the filename.

Solution for this is to fix your filenames. There is an option in the recording settings to limit the characterset used to ASCII.

WW, it's exactly the same for files without special characters and it was Xstreamity that generated the name, I didn't go through a Windows machine.

I don't know much about character encoding but is the difference only in special characters like accented letters? So if it can disrupt the reading of the name of this file "20240807 1416 - Météo.stream", why would it disrupt this one: "20240809 1422 - Consomag.stream" that I attached?

In addition, when I open the meta file, Notepad++ tells me that it is encoded in utf8.

And when I copied the word "Météo" in Notepad++ on the first line to paste it on the 2nd line, the title line, it appeared in the movie selection list and on the left side of the screen. So in my opinion, it is not a character encoding problem.
