Maybe someone else wants to test it.

I do :)

I think you should start by removing all those options, apart from vers, sec, username and password.

Chances are you get this (i admit very weird) error because of a non-supported option.

I am using minimal mount command:

mount -t cifs -o rw,username=username,domain=FSERVER,addr=192.168.0.61,vers=3.0 //192.168.0.61/dreambox /media/net/dreamboxFSERVER

which results to:

//192.168.0.61/dreambox on /media/net/dreamboxFSERVER type cifs (rw,relatime,vers=3.0,sec=ntlmssp,cache=strict,unc=\\192.168.0.61\dreambox,username=username,domain=FSERVER,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=192.168.0.61,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,nounix,serverino,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,actimeo=1)

when i run mount command.

Results is the same that AutoMount does, except relatime,vers=2.1 and nobrl option is missing.

When I have more time I will flash older openpli releases starting from 4.0 or maybe 6.2, because I have saved videos bigger than 2GB in my recordings directory from previous years. It was working before.

Tried that. smbfs is not recognized fs. I swapped it with cifs, but lfs is not recognized. This was the first option that I tried 2 days ago anyway.

I don't have smbclient on my xtrend at all.

mount: /media/net/dreamboxFSERVER: unknown filesystem type 'smbfs'.
mount -t cifs -o rw,noatime,vers=3.0,sec=ntlmssp,cache=strict,username=username,domain=FSERVER,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=192.168.0.61,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,nounix,serverino,nobrl,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,actimeo=1,lfs //192.168.0.61/dreambox /media/net/dreamboxFSERVER
mount: /media/net/dreamboxFSERVER: bad option; for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, cifs) you might need a /sbin/mount.<type> helper program.
root@et6x00:/media/net# mount -t cifs //fserver/dreambox /mnt -o username=nz,lfs
mount: /media: bad option; for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, cifs) you might need a /sbin/mount.<type> helper program.
root@et6x00:/media/net# mount -t smbfs //fserver/dreambox /mnt -o username=nz,lfs
mount: /media: unknown filesystem type 'smbfs'.

Your xtrend et6000 is built with a kernel 3.8.7.
Version 3 was not yet integrated there.
The use of version 3 does not bring any advantages.

Ok, I don't want SMB3 anyway. I tried because I red somewhere that version 2.1 had that 2GB limit.

Just for the record:

root@et6x00:/media/net# mount -t cifs -o rw,noatime,vers=3.0,sec=ntlmssp,cache=strict,username=username,domain=FSERVER,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=192.168.0.61,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,nounix,serverino,nobrl,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,actimeo=1 //192.168.0.61/dreambox /media/net/dreamboxFSERVER

mount command returns vers=3.0.

It actually connects with SMB3_00 protocol. Also checked on file server host with smbstatus:

In Topic:Unable to write files bigger than 2gb on cifs share.

I did a lot of tests:

root@et6x00:/# mount -t cifs -o rw,noatime,vers=2.1,sec=ntlmssp,cache=strict,username=username,domain=FSERVER,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=192.168.0.61,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,nounix,serverino,nobrl,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,actimeo=1 //192.168.0.61/dreambox /media/net/dreamboxFSERVER
root@et6x00:/# dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/net/dreamboxFSERVER/output.img count=2048 bs=1048576
dd: error writing '/media/net/dreamboxFSERVER/output.img': File too large
2048+0 records in
2047+0 records out
2147483647 bytes (2.0GB) copied, 173.188893 seconds, 11.8MB/s

also tried vers=3.0 and vers=3.1.1

vers=3.0 is recognized, anything else falls back to vers=2.1.

i also tried from another virtual machine which is debian testing like the file-server host (using the same mount options except noatime(which is not recognzied)).

root@rtorrent:/mnt# umount /mnt/tmp; mount -t cifs -o rw,vers=2.1,sec=ntlmssp,cache=strict,username=username,domain=FSERVER,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=192.168.0.61,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,nounix,serverino,nobrl,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,actimeo=1 //192.168.0.61/dreambox /mnt/tmp/
´┐Ż Password for username@//192.168.0.61/dreambox:
root@rtorrent:/mnt# dd if=/dev/zero of=tmp/output.img count=2048 bs=1048576

2048+0 records out
2147483648 bytes (2.1 GB, 2.0 GiB) copied, 14.3067 s, 150 MB/s

vers=3.1.1 was recognized here, but i used 2.1 just for testing like it is on the xtrend itself.

Operation was successful.

Can you confirm that this works for you. I mean the dd part.

mount -t cifs -o rw,sec=ntlmssp,cache=strict,username=username,domain=FSERVER,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=192.168.0.61,file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755,nounix,serverino,nobrl,rsize=65536,wsize=65536,actimeo=1,vers=3.0 //192.168.0.61/dreambox /media/net/dreamboxFSERVER
dd if=/dev/zero of=dreamboxFSERVER/output.img count=2048 bs=1048576
