#488791 Annoying Pli bug

Posted by Pr2 on 25 April 2015 - 15:13

Yes it failed because there is a typo error in the command should be:

init 4 && opkg update && opkg upgrade --force-overwrite && reboot

it is --force-overwrite and not -force-overwrite

#484654 Timeshift Timer Conflict

Posted by Pr2 on 1 April 2015 - 15:26

Why this will not work?  This is what CollinB is asking for.

I think you didn't pick-up the concern here, so let's take a concrete exemple to explain when this is interesting to have this option.

You have a planned recording at 20H30 for exemple on Channel-A.

It is now 19H45 and you are watching Channel-B then somebody rings at you bell (this was unplanned), you pause the TV show on Channel-B, because you want to see the end (you never planned to record this show because you don't want to keep it, so you have no reason to record it at all).
You think that it will takes you less than 5 minutes to answer.  But visitor stay at your home until 21H00.

You were not watching TV (so any popup is totally useless), you didn't take any action on your STB and at 20H30 planned recording starts as expected.
Today timeshift is stopped (so you lose the end of the TV show that you would like to see the end and that leads you to start timeshift).

So action:
- stop timeshift and start timer action (default)
Is the current behavior.

- save current timeshift and  start timer action
This is what CollinB asked for. (perhaps we should consider this one as the new default option so we are sure to never lost a timeshift end).

- keep timeshift active and ignore timer action
Since we foreseen the two other option may be somebody prefer to give priority to timeshift

But to be completed those options are relevant only when there is a conflict between a timeshift and a planned recording! If tuner is available we won't have any problem at all since timeshift won't be stopped and record will happens.

To answer your question:  for how long do you want to record this timeshift?

This question doesn't make sense here, since the end-user knows that its STB will zap to record something:
- if we are in pause mode and the timer action start and conflict with timeshift it means that the TV show that we were watching previously is finished anyway.
- if we are watching in timeshift (play) and the STB need to zap to record the option to save the timeshift will save the full timeshift so the TV show end will be saved too even if we didn't reach it yet ourself when watching the timeshift.

So we have no concern about how long to record timeshift, we just always need to stop and save the full timeshift since we have conflict and that we decide to do this action.

#482289 End of XMLTV Import?

Posted by Pr2 on 20 March 2015 - 11:10

Hi,

Perhaps we should think to change the way of working of XMLTV import, why not use torrent to download the files that we need for our EPG?

This will spread the workload/bandwidth on everybody.

#441738 Timeshift and Record

Posted by Pr2 on 2 September 2014 - 09:56

Hi,

Yes there is pre-requisite for the USB HDD it is to format it in your STB to have it in EXT4 format.

In Fat32 you will be limited to 4GB file size so this will lead to problem, in NTFS you will have slow reponse time.

Linux native format will give the best result.

#425738 cccam2.3.0

Posted by Pr2 on 28 May 2014 - 19:47

I have a DM7025 with image OpenPLi-2.1 and would like to know if for this image is possible to find the plugin cccam2.3.0 + osemu.
Thanks in advance
Greetings

Dog05 was talking about OSemu not Doscam.

Yes Doscam can be an alternative but OSemu also exist on its own and it is also working fine.

No DosCam is not the correct name, there are several alternative version including emu based on OScam.  Doscam and Oscam-Ymod are full OScam with build-in support for emu (softcam.keys) but we also have OSemu which is a kind a OScam very light with just the emu part capable or reading of softcam keys.

Unfortunatelly there is a public version of OSemu which is a proof-of-concept.

https://github.com/oscam-emu/OSEmu

But this version doesn't support the french TNTSAT only the compiled version distributed by Dr Master support it.

#390731 Xtrend Card Reader (& Open-Source Support)

Posted by Pr2 on 6 December 2013 - 13:59

@pop_eye,

Do you already find clones of Xtrend ET series on the market? I don't.

Do you find clone of VU+? Yes

So the protection of Xtrend seems efficient and they need to protect there investment.

I have tested a VU+ Duo², my friend give it to me for 2 months after 1 month I pack it back in its box and return to my good old ET-9000 because there was too many drivers issue with VU+.

So I prefer to have a box "clone protected"  that works fine than a box with many driver issues.

#378760 Up arrow behavior and also P+ behavior

Posted by Pr2 on 8 October 2013 - 20:09

We don't need another key assigned since P+ is doing it the right way.

I never understand when opening the channel list with the up (or down) why it also change the cursor position in the list, for me this rather always look like a bug that is there for a very long time now. I see absolutely no advantages to this behavior, I don't undestand the logic behing this.

When you press EPG, it highlight the channel you are on. Pressing OK you are the info on the current channel. Audio is on the current channel, etc...

I have lot of option available into channel list + Menu button that I'd like to use on the currentely watching channel.

Do you think logical to have to press UP then DOWN then MENU to get access to those option in the current channel?

For me it is not, I call the channel list UP arrow then I press MENU, this is the logical way of doing it.

We don't press the UP arrow to change channel we press it to open up the channel list selection, nothing more, nothing less.

To change channel we have left/right arrow.

Lets call it ergonomics... current way of working is not ergonomics.

#378747 Up arrow behavior and also P+ behavior

Posted by Pr2 on 8 October 2013 - 18:58

Hi,

OK forget about the P+ / P- I don't want to disturb too much the E2 users.

But the up / down arrow behavior is no logical, you press it up the first for what:  just to pop-up the channel list (not to zap or change anything). So I would like that the cursor stay on the current I am currently watching.

Robinson summarize it very well:  channel is highlighted which is not currently being watched (for me this non-sense).

If WanWizard is using it for the EPG then he will probably watch at EPG summary on severals channels and not only the channel just before the one he is currently watching, so he will have to press the up arrow several times anyway. But then we can also say that the EPG key is there to watch the EPG.

I don't see which extra key he will need to press because to change channel +1 / -1 you have the left and right arrow

So according to me the normal behavior is 1 press on up will just open the channel list on the current channel.

When you saw the number of possible option that you have pressing menu in channel list, I think better to stay on the current channel since I pop up the channel list I want to be able to use the Menu key directly on the channel I am currently watching.

Moreover have you ever try to create a bouquet list from scratch yourself with the RCU?  This is total mess press up then down then menu to add it to favorites. When the channel name is specific no problem you cannot make mistake but if for example you want to add channels like Eurosport / Disney etc... you have up to 10 times in your all channel list! So if you forgot the up/down trick you insert the wrong channel in your favorite.
