hi Maiden,

if you follow the instructions to the letter and use a PLi image from here then you should be fine!

I completed the capacitor mod for my DM500 (I added the two small caps on the SMD caps that were already there) and everything works fine...I get one small glitch though and I cant determine why this happens...

when a movie plays I get small pauses every one or two seconds... the pauses are VERY small and only noticeable when a picture is moving slowly on the screen... like when a movie starts you can see the film company logo ..then you can notice the pauses but with normal action scenes it is not as noticeable...

I found a bug in movieplayer... if you tick the "Scale" option in movieplayer options (blue button) then it gets stuck to "Scale" even if you untick it it still shows movies scaled to full screen. I tried to find the config file to set this scale=0 but I cant..

Finally did it!... I have two LAN switches connected to my router and the DB500 was on one of them.. maybe too many switches are causing a bit of a conflict and now using a WiFi AP as a wifi client I connected it to the LAN port of the DB500 and streaming movies at 3072 bits/s FLAWLESSLY!!

no need to touch any buffers on VLC as ims said!... now the DB500 is a nice sat receiver + media player for the bedroom!

excellent :)

Buffer size there in VLC must not be changed... I never change it

I checked the movieplayer version and it is the one I downloaded from the server (0.9.97) I forgot that newer images do not have it preinstalled...

I experience some chopping in the movies if I set the bit rate above 1500. Maybe I need to mode the remaining two capacitors for perfect result. Now I will try with /var in flash rather than in network mount /var.

I will also reset buffers to default in VLC.

ims your solution ROCKS!

it is not my solution :-)

btw, version of movieplayer (Info on screen with files) ? It is with "buffer" bar in option or without ?
Today I tried old 500 and no problem with video bitrate 3000 and XP on old 1.6GHz dual core + antivir :-)

I changed the buffer sizes of VLC and I will try again with higher bit rates ..will let you know.. one thing is for sure ..the capacitor mod was a MUST. - - -and yes ims the solution maybe not yours but you knew where to point at and this is more important ...to know what to do/suggest when you see the problem.

the movieplayer version is the one that comes with PLi image..cant remember the version now... the image I flashed is 10-10-2011.

thank you guys for all the help.
