In Topic: XTREND ET9000: issues after image upgrade

Dear all,

thanks again for your several comments: Indeed the only thing not working before all started were some disfunct channels / services, the box with its (old) image was working. I simply should have kept the image and only updated it with fresh channel lists. But well...

Now for the last commenst from rantanplan: yes, I also retried the whole procedure with the latest 8.x image, and the results are perfectly the same. I can only scan and tune into a very limited list of channels. The choice of transponder seems to be random: today I got a bunch of crappy channels that I had never heard of. And none of the maninstream ones (ARD HD or SD, ZDF HD or SD,...)

I just got myself a replacement et9x00 model and it seems to work well, at least better. So I am again suspecting a hardware defect, somehow mysteriously triggered... maybe the power supply does no longer deliver all the different needed voltages. I remember having had to replace one of its elkos (Elektrolytkondensator) some years ago.

So don't bother, let me try to find out now how to set up the replacement , without breaking everything again.

[I could also try to switch the power supplies - not sure if I will]

Tx

Hello rantanplan,

OK, so I went through the whole process once again - and my problems are totally reproducible

- I downloaded again the last 6.x OpenPLI image (openpli-6.2-release-et9x00-20201222_usb.zip), unpacked it and copied the et9x00 folder to an usb stick

- I reset the device to factory settings and rebootet it with the usb plugged into the front port

- I pressed OK to flash the image - this was confirmed with a "flashing completed" message and it rebootet again

- I answered NO to "reload settings", chose german language, HDMI port to TV, 1080i resolution and went into the setup assistance agent

- I set the satellite configuration for Tuner A to simple, single satellite, Astra 19.2E, no DiSEqC (see attachment), and to "nothing" for Tuner B

- I did not add a channel list (because this only gives me tons of unwanted favorite bouquets, all spelled in Dutch...)

- I ran a channel scan with all three options set to yes (second attachment).

- this produces a rediciously few number of found channels / services, less than 100. This time I did not even get ARD (see attachments)

When I hook up a friend's dreambox on the exact same antenna cable, or connect my TV to that cable, I get the full blown list of channels / services (>500).

So WTF is wrong with my box???

Hello all

I am still lost and don't know what do. As I said, I have tried all that was mentioned in the posts so far.

Can it be a hardware problem, eg power supply failing?

Do I need a special (newer or older) boot loader?

I read that xtrend support was abandoned with OpenPLI 8.x, but the latest 6.x image should still work OK, correct?

What means "using the old driver" in post #5?

[I should not ask this in this forum, but might I have more luck with another group (OpenATV...)???]

PS: when I do a factory reset and followed by an autoscanm, I also only get around 100 services (and apparently only on the currently active transponder), while I should have +500 across all transponders

OK, so I re-downloaded the zip, replaced the satellites.xml, uploaded the whole to the et9000 and rebootet.

For some reason I continue to be stuck with a single transponder. I get ARD, PHOENIX, ARTE, and all the regional channels (NDR, WDR, BR, ....) but nothing else - always "Tuning failed".

My configuration is awfully simply: no rotor, single disc, LNB, no DiSEqC, (but a multiswitch to spread the signal to the rooms), please also see attachment.

You mention three files, but how can I "activate the automatical switch of transponders as needed by the services/channels" (if that makes any sense...)???

Sorry, but I feel very stupid again...
