Topics I've Started

eudev or mdev

24 November 2019 - 01:40

I have build the branch thud with eudev and removed mdev.

I was pretty surprised with minimal adjustment that it works inside e2 already good.

/media is actually not needed but as most people check this map it's in the patch mount to /run/media

I have only test the input and hardware devices like harddisk, usb stick sdcard, wifi sticks and internal ethernet.

I made an small patch for test and I hope we can switch from mdev to eudev.

todo

test nfs/cifs shares and mount/unmount

Rules for internal eMMC you can easily blacklist it but as some models use mmcblk0 and other mmcblk1 I have not added yet.

/hdd mount to disk I think it never work like it should been. Probably fstab or a rule is needed to assign a disk to HDD.

In Openembedded there only a couple links to /media left. As I do not know the application I left it along for now.

Wi-Fi setup with WPS from router

25 June 2019 - 16:30

it seems wifi with WPS is working fine by me but it's not implement in Enigma2. Are their known issues or with newer openembedded it just start to work?

I do as follow this actually easy steps:

step1: Adjust /etc/wpa_supplicant.wlan0.conf

ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
update_config=1

step2 by telnet/putty command:

wpa_cli wps_pbc

step3:

press router WPS button within 2 minutes

step4 your wifi settings (SSID and password) should been found. Just for check if it's ok: /etc/wpa_supplicant.wlan0.conf

ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
update_config=1

network={
        ssid="XXXXXXXXXXX"
        psk="XXXXXXXXX"
        proto=RSN
        key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
        pairwise=CCMP GCMP
        group=CCMP GCMP TKIP
        auth_alg=OPEN
        pbss=2
}

Fallbacktuner with wifi-stick doesn‘t work ok.

24 June 2019 - 19:01

I have an issue with some wifi sticks and import the fallbacktuner channellist. (I know a wired ethernet is better but wifi works fine as well)

9 of 10 wifi sticks it works fine but a few I have issue when the box startup. It seems some wifi sticks need some extra time to start and then the channel import from the fallbacktuner fails.

I use the follow setting for import channellist by start: "Also import at reboot/restart enigma2"

Is it possible to load the channellist from the fallbacktuner after the ethernet/wifi connection is up?
