On the OpenPli VU+ download page there is a caveat on the status of VU+ support:

Due to lack of technical support from the manufacturer we are no longer able to provide active support for the brand Vuplus. We have still hope that the communication between us will be restored like before. As long as building images is possible without changes in the BSP we will continue building images. From the moment major changes are needed in the BSP all builds will be ended.

A couple of weeks back, VU+ seems to have activated again on the updates field, before that there was almost a year's gap: http://code.vuplus.c...vuplus_3.0.git/

I'm not sure what this means? Is this the dreaded change that will prevent further releases for now, or just the opposite, is this the needed bit that will enable further development?

What are your recommendations for currently available stable DVB-C 4k hardware to use with OpenPLi?
