Arg, i hate it that i can't edit me previous posting.... :(

New idea: Maybe it is possible to log something over the RS232? If i can redirect the log to RS232 i probably see the shutdown and hopefully an error. :)

Cross is the only way to get Open-TV data, and it works well: I use it all the time, for years now.

But: it uses a lot of RAM, and especially on older boxes the use of a swap-file is really needed to let Cross work properly.

Doesn't a Vu+ Duo2 have enough RAM to make crossepg work properly?

If you get all sorts of connection refused and enigma is also killed by the kernel, that sounds very much like a OOM, an out-of-memory condition. Try this: log in using telnet or ssh and don't exit, leave it open. Next time you have strange problems, try to do dmesg and post the last 25 lines. I bet there is an "OOM" killer message in it.

I don't think so. This happens only on shutdown. The box hangs on shutdown. The box never died in normal use. If the box shutdown, it shut down all services (ssh, telnet etc.) and then it hangs. And this is why you don't see what happens, the services go down before the box is hanging. And if i remember correctly the video signal is also down at the time when the box hangs. Normally you see "Your STB is shuting down" on the screen. But i think the box hangs after that.

Have you read my posting?

I can NOT make a dmesg because the box is shuting down and the telnet/ssh connection is cut before the box is hanging.

This is why i asked if i can log something over serial-port.

Maybe i can redirect the kernel-log to rs232.

Yes I read and I wonder if you read what I said. The crux is that you set up the connection BEFORE the problem arises. You may still have a connection even though no new connections are accepted.

Today i had luck and i got what you like to see. :)

The box is haning and i am still connect with ssh.

Last ~25 messages in dmesg are not relevant i think:

FE tune
FE tune
FE tune
FE tune

But i see that the NAS-Shares are still mounted, but the NAS is offline.

So i guess the box is hanging because it can not unmount the NAS.

ATM the box is hanging in command line, so i have to wait.

But after that i try to unmount the shares manually

Unmounting the shares is not possible!

I don't know why, but the "-l" option (lazy unmount) does not work.

For me it looks like that it is not possible to shutdown the box if a network-share is mounted and not available during the shutdown.

Problem found, but i don't know how to solve it.

Edit: If i start up my NAS again, the box shutdown correctly after the NAS is up and reachable! So yes, in my case it's "the unavailable NAS" during shutdown.

I dont run a NAS but yes I do have a mounted USB disk drive,so you may have found the cause of this annoying issue.

Hopefully the devs can now fix it as it never used to happen with older versions of Openpli and has absolutely nothing to do with RAM useage like has been suggested earlier in this thread.

Ian.

I discovered a strange bug:

Like to set a timer on channel "ProSieben".

The channel is not in a bouquet, but its listed on "All channels".

So far so good.

But if i like to select the channel when i create a new timer, i can't select it because this channel is missing in the list (timer list).

Then i selected the timer from the EPG. So far so good, see "Timer1.png".

But look what happens if i edit this timer. See "Timer2.png".

What? Why is there on "Kanal" (channel) "Nichts" (nothing).

Explain where it is.
It can be shown in the screenshot.

It seems like a webif bug, on the box i can select it.

There are 2 main problems:

1. The channel "ProSieben" is not in the list of channels that can be selected for recording. See "List.png".

2. After creating a timer and klick on edit, i can not select the channel again. It shows me "Nichts" or it shows me a wrong channel.

Edit: On the box i see it correct (see OnBox.png). But in webif it shows me the wrong channel (see OnWebif.png)! On the left you see the correct channel ProSieben, but if i edit the timer it shows me "SRF1 HD". Why?

Don't understand you, but "i will do" sounds great :)

ProSieben is also not shown with older pli images if this helps.

If you need channel reference, logs or something else just tell me.

Have you done something?

After an update i can reselect the channel "ProSieben". But if i edit a timer it shows me the wrong channel (SRF1 HD).

I keep an eye on it...

Tested today, but i seems that it's not working. :(

As you can see in the attached screenshot, the timer shows the right channel "ProSieben" in the left side. But if i edit this timer it shows under "Kanal" (Channel) "Nichts" (Nothing).

I think this timer will work and it's only a cosmetic bug.
