Firstly I must thank PLi for the first DM800 image which seems to be working much better than the others I have tested, they seem to switch the Widescreen formats and audio off & on while changing channels, very annoying..

My questions is how do I use zapstream & web-x-tv, I cant find them any appropriate files in the image nor can i find a plugin for these (I hope) great tools..

thx..

It might, when there are enough people asking for it ;).

But why do you want to use zapstream? The 800 already got good streaming functionality from the web interface by clicking the TV icon, right?

Thank for quick reply.

The answer is that zapstream is amazing function, which is possible use for multiroom local IPTV solution (house, flat).

You can have installed dreamboxes in cabinet (the number of DM dependent, how many rooms you want TV).
The cabling in house is only structured infrastructure (LAN Cat.6).
Such as clients are used networked media players, for example NMT platform from Syabas.
But these networked media players has limited capability in IPTV functionality.
But your Zapstream via http protocol working on it.

And why Zapstream run on DM800?
Because my experience with older models of dreamboxes - poorly HW.

Then, please, if is possible add Zapstream to Pli image for DM800 - will be great.

I would be VERY happy, if you complete it and include Zapstream. I believe it is a great feature and shall be included. Thanx!!! BTW, great job! I like it very much anyway.

just for my information, what do you expect zapstream to do for you which isn't already offered by the current streaming solutions. If it's just the simpler url have you had a look at our simple stream interface plugin? It allows you to select channels on port 40080 and most mediaplayers support it.

About streaming from DM800 to NMT mediaplayer:

via webinterface (example: http://IPdreambox:80...:FFF6B163:0:0:0:)
- working, including streaming HD channels

via streaminterface plugin through port 40080 (example: http://IPdreambox:40080/)
- this is only list of channels from Bouquet with stored streams via webinterface for each channel
- primary NMT cannot open this page http://IPdreambox:40080/
But this solution is unusable for ordinary looking on TV, because these streaming possibilities cannot change the channel.
Firstly - the loading of stream on MNT is very slowly. You can stop the streaming one channel and switch to another, but only from the same transponder. And you must wait again for loading new stream ( more than 30 s);
You can´t switch to channel from othe transponder.

Streaming via Zapstream (example: http://IPdreambox:31344/)
- you one time load the stream from dreambox on NMT (waiting too), and then you can switch channels directly on dreambox without stopping the streaming, and the switching time between two channels is very similar such as on dreambox
For this ability I swap to PLi image - is unique image in the word.
But for HDTV I swap to DM800, and I´m unhappy now, that Zapstream missing in image for it.

Technical question - is it possible OSD via Zapstream?

I see. So it's mainly the 'zapping without restarting the stream' bit you're interested in.
It should be very simple to port the zapstream binary to dvb api 3 I guess.
Integrating it into the image might be a bit more work, however, it's probably enough when we put it in inetd.conf on port 31344, as that's how you are apparently using it.

Has there been any movement on this issue? For all of us who don't use Windows zapstream was a godsend!

As powerful as the new streaming options are, how can any one suggest that zapstream is not the simpler more elegant solution for everyday use, requiring no pre-ordained knowledge about service-IDs etc. to get a successful stream up and running in next to no time.

mplayer http://dreambox-3.lo...:11A0000:0:0:0:
versus typing
mplayer http://dreambox-3.local:31344

Might I also add that neither mplayer or vlc accept these URLs on a Macintosh running either Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard 10.5.6, whereas zapstream just works every time. This might be related to the particular pli revision on the dreambox though since the error coming back to either program is '502 - Bad Gateway' . This occurs on both a dm600 and a dm800 running the latest Jade

Somebody must have a build of zapstream somewhere or do I have to start compiling myself!

we need to port zapstream to dvb api 3, which is not a big deal.
But apart from that we also need to make zapstream aware of which data demux it should use, currently it uses demux0 (fixed), which works for the e1 boxes, but not for the e2 boxes.

If mplayer and vlc don't accepts the urls on a commandline, you'll probably have to escape the :'s or quote the whole url. Or make a playlist-file and type 'vlc dreambox.m3u'

I will pick this issue up in a few months. I'm busy with other things till than.

Thanks for the quick replies. Indeed I could have a shell escape problem and I'll check that out and report back later.
