ok,
sorry for this "spam".

The problem is an incompatibility with the A835 modules (kernel-module-mxl5007t and kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035) and the A867 (kernel-module-dvb-usb-a867)
If i removed them the A867 works good (but obviously not the A835) and viceversa.

hope this will help someone to solve the problem

Yes, now both the dvb-usb-af9035 and the dvb-usb-a867 drivers support the A867 devices. To avoid conflicts, you can't install both drivers at the same time.

BTW, in my experience the dvb-usb-a867 driver is still a little better, and zapping is much faster. What do you think?

Hi gerrar1,
i cant' use both key together.

now i removed the kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035, reboot and the a867 workd fine but the A835 is not present.
Can u help me to choose the right packages in order to use both?

regards

PS.
as soon as possible i'll check the zap response time :)

ok i make some tests:

remove:

kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035
kernel-module-tua9001
kernel-module-mxl5007t
kernel-module-dvb-usb-a867
kernel-module-dvb-usb

- the system doesn't recognise any usb dtt tuner (ok its right! :P)

Installing:

kernel-module-dvb-usb-a867
kernel-module-dvb-usb

- the system add A867 tuner and no A835

remove the 2 packages and installing

kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035
kernel-module-tua9001
kernel-module-mxl5007t
kernel-module-dvb-usb

The system add a835 and no a867 but this is the dmesg:

dvb-usb: found a 'AVerMedia HD Volar (A867)' in warm state.

what's wrong?

cheers

Probably the af9035 driver in kernel 3.6.0 is not capable to manage multiple devices. There is some fix for dual tuner cards in kernel 3.7, so maybe this helps also supporting multiple af9035 devices.
I will do some test with the new patches during Christmas holidays, when I will have some free time.

Maybe it's possible to blacklist the A867 usb ID in the af9035 driver and use both drivers together?

Probably i found the error.
Today i installed e new openpli from scratch. after the installation of dtt modules (9035) this is the error i received:

dvb-usb: found a 'AVerMedia HD Volar (A867)' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
dvb-usb: did not find the firmware file. (dvb-usb-af9035-02.fw) Please see linux/Documentation/dvb/ for more details on firmware-problems. (-2)
dvb_usb_af9035: probe of 1-1.2:1.0 failed with error -2
dvb-usb: found a 'AVerMedia AVerTV Volar HD/PRO (A835)' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
dvb-usb: did not find the firmware file. (dvb-usb-af9035-02.fw) Please see linux/Documentation/dvb/ for more details on firmware-problems. (-2)
dvb_usb_af9035: probe of 1-1.4:1.0 failed with error -2

The module try to use the fw for the 867 also.. and this is obviously an error.

hope this can help someone to solve this problem

Dima, the log is show only for better understanging the problem. I remove the fw from /lib/firmware only to show that also for the a867 key the module try to use that firmware and this is clearly an error.

It's not an error. The af9035 driver needs that firmware for all the supported devices, including the A867.
You are probably confused because the old dvb-usb-a867 driver does not require any firmware. Anyway, the firmware is still present also in the old driver, but it's embedded in the driver code so no external file is required.

DrAk3's Photo DrAk3 21 Dec 2012

Thanks Gennar1.
i think that the main problem is the following error while the module loading for the A867 key:

af9035: recv bulk message truncated (5 != 9)
af9033_rd_regs: i2c rd failed=-5 reg=804191 len=4
dvb-usb: no frontend was attached by 'AVerMedia HD Volar (A867)

I know that the a867 module works better, but i can't use the a835 with it. Im'm planning to buy another a867 key, but this is not the solution :)

Sorry for maybe stupid question, but can someone please tell me how to add and remove kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035. I have vu+duo and i cant do it from telnet and on packages list i cant find mentioned drivers.

root@vuduo:~# opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035
Package enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-autobouquetsmaker version git194+b8c7e01-r25 has no valid architecture, ignoring.
Unknown package 'kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035'.
Collected errors:
* opkg_install_cmd: Cannot install package kernel-module-dvb-usb-af9035.
root@vuduo:~#

I have placed dvb-usb-af9035-01.fw and dvb-usb-af9035-02.fw in lib/firmware
Maybe i have wrong files. I am using open pli 3.0 updated today.

First "opkg update" to get the list from the server. After that run
opkg list "*9035*"
to find packages with "9035" in their name.
