VU+Solo2 und Startscreen
delsat1 19 Jul 2013
Hallo

By flashing the attached splash screen (the same way as you flash an image).

And on next experiments: just delete the splash screen from any image folder you use before flashing.

Hi,
Can I cut in? I am not a VU+ user. I have ET9000 and the following four screens appear before the picture eventually comes on.
Is there any way to get rid of the ruDREAM and Xtrend logos?

You can try using the attached splashscreen, but I'm not sure Xtrend still supports this.

Does that mean that by flashing this splash screen, the rest of the image will not be affected? I didn't know that "selective flashing" is at all possible.
The attached zip file is for a VU+ Ultimo, and the OP (and myself) have a Solo². Shouldn't the folder structure be /vuplus/solo2 instead of /vuplus/ultimo?

Indeed.

Indeed: sorry about that.

I understand this is safe? The attached file does not affect the bootloader itself?
And if anything should go wrong, I may just need to re-flash my box?

I formattenb USB stick to FAT32, put the et9x00 folder on it with the following 2 files:
- noforce
- splash.bin
Unfortunately, the box does not seem to offer any upgrade - it just boots normally.

OK, can I just use any version of 'imageversion' file I can find on my computer or does it have to be something specific on the file?

OK, I don't know, I'm not that dumb.
I included "imageversion" file in the folder "et9x00" but there is still nothing. I also tried "ET9x00".
Now I think maybe I should have also tried "ET9X00".
When I switch the box on (using the switch at the back) it sometimnes boots up and sometimes I still need to press the front panel blue switch - I'm not sure what it depends on.
One way or another, the box still does not want to boot from the USB, which I only tried from the front under the flap. Maybe I should have tried one of the back USB?

As I said before: I'm not sure Xtrend still supports this.
It used to, but I think quite some time ago the support to flash splashscreens has been omitted.
This has it's advantages: many imagebuilders tend to embed their own splashscreen in their image folders and (IMHO) a splashscreen should reflect the hardware, not the firmware.
But the obvious disadvantage is that users who didn't revert to the factory screen in time are now trapped.

Thanks pieterg and SatKiekerd.
I will give it one more try and that's it.

Then restart your receiver and press the down-arrow key on the front of it (just as you push the OK key for loading an image). This will update your boot loader with the new splash screen.

And: did it work? Thanks pieterg and SatKiekerd.
