A little help with drivers

GT8k's Photo GT8k 2 Mar 2024

Guys I need your help with which drivers to download for the "VU+ HMP-Combo DVB-C/T2 Hybird USB Tuner" and also what's happenin' after the download is complete, should I see a new menu in plugins or I use the tuners&scanning menu?

PS.: I've tried the opticombo one (with the si2168) but don't know how & where to scan for services. Attached File  IMG_20240302_1.jpg   111.77KB   4 downloadsAttached File  IMG_20240302_2.jpg   108.11KB   4 downloadsAttached File  IMG_20240302_3.jpg   78.9KB   4 downloads

No, it is just a driver. If the driver is correct, you should see your additional tuner after a reboot, in the tuner menu.

I have not seen anything there ((, so any idea which one to try next?

What box is this?

If not a VU+, I doubt you'll get it to work, as VU+ has a special patched driver in the BSP of their boxes for this USB tuner.

And again thank you for trying to help)

I've found numerous mentions of HMP Combo & "dvbsky t330" but I see nothing in Setup->Tuners & scanning->tuner configuration... Should I "restart enigma" or restart the complete box so vu+ to see the tuner (if it gonna see it at the end of the day) ?

Is it gonna work with openpli 9 ??

Most, if not all, STB vendors never update the linux kernel, or even pick an old kernel if that saves them work. So no matter the OpenPLi version, the linux kernel version will always be the same.

Yes and  it is the same for other images, to say it in laymen’s terms, drivers and kernel versions go hand in hand and Linux kernels are almost never updated by the vendor.

I don't get it, aren't the drivers for uno4kse the same as for the duo4kse?
[I've read a review where this hmp-combo was working just fine on duo 4k se]

I've looked in the manufacturer BSP (the software layer supplied by the manufacturer which contains the linux kernel and hardware drivers).

The driver is called hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c which means you won't find it in the driver section of the plugin lists, you need to install it from the commandline, or using the advanced options menu of the software management plugin.

It is available on my Duo 4K:

root@vuduo4k:~# opkg list | grep hmp
hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c-arm - V160430-r1.5 - media tree drivers for hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c
hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c-arm-dbg - V160430-r1.5 - media tree drivers for hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c - Debugging files
hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c-arm-dev - V160430-r1.5 - media tree drivers for hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c - Development files

so

opkg install hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c-arm

and a reboot of the box from the menu should fix it.

Did you try to issue the command that Wanwizard posted using Putty/Terminal? It should install. There is no need to download/get anything

opkg install hmp-usb-dvb-t2-c-arm

Man you saved my day!
Thank you VERY much for your effort! :))

PS.: Restarting the gui didn't bring any change, but when I restarted "the box from the menu" - voila the tuner was there)) Attached File  IMG_20240309_1.jpg   22.06KB   7 downloads

Drivers are loaded at boot time, restarting the GUI just restarts the Enigma application.
